Scottish champions Celtic want to take Martin Odegaard on loan.

According to the Glasgow Evening Times, if Real Madrid do decide to loan Odegaard out for the 2015/16 season, then Celtic would be interested in having the teenager on board.

The link comes from the relationship between Odegaard and current Celtic manager, Ronny Deila.

Deila spent six years managing Norweigian side Stromsgodset, the club whose youth system Odegaard progressed through. The manager gave Odegaard his professional debut when he was just 15-years-old and it is also believed that he remains in personal contact with the player's parents.

Real Madrid could be keen for the player to earn La Liga experience, however, which could affect the possibility of a move to Scotland. If this is the case, then AS are reporting interest from Real Betis, Villarreal and Malaga for the 16-year-old.

Nonetheless, Celtic have a good track record with loanees.

Just last season, they turned two Manchester City youngsters, Jason Denayer and John Guidetti, into two of the best players in Scotland for the 2014/15 campaign.

Denayer finished the season winning the PFA Scotland Young Player of the Year, Celtic's Young Player of the Year and being named in the PFA Scotland Team of the Year, all in his first season of professional football, aged 19-years-old. He also returned to the Ethiad with league and cup winners medals, as well as experience in Europe.

Guidetti is far more well known having embarked on numerous loan adventures now aged 23, but this did not stop him taking Scotland by storm as he scored 15 goals, winning the Player of the Month award for October thanks to his prolific contributions up front.

The Scottish league may not as good as the Spanish in terms of quality, but it can provide Odegaard with a stepping stone from the standard he is used to in Norway, to the standard he has the potential to play in with Real Madrid.
