Iago Aspas has rejoined Celta Vigo, as confirmed by the club.

Aspas spent the 2014/15 season on loan with Sevilla from Liverpool and today the Spanish club activated the option to buy in his contract, buying the player from the Merseysiders in a deal worth £5 million.

Following this, Sevilla have now sold the striker to his former club, Celta. Sevilla announced that the deal "has been agreed in principle," whilst Celta took to their website to declare that Aspas "returns home."

He is set to be revealed as a Celta player once again on Monday.

Aspas back where he started

The 27-year-old came through Celta's academy, joining them when he was just eight years old, and was a regular in their B team by the age of 19. He made his senior debut a year later in the 2007-08 season when the team were in the Segunda Division.

However, it was the following season when he really announced himself at the club, in his second appearance for Celta. In June 2009, Aspas was brought on as a substitute on the hour against Alaves and he went on to have a telling impact, scoring twice as his side won 2-1.

From here, he went on to make a further 233 appearances for the club, scoring 61 goals in total. His 12 goals in 34 games in the club's return to La Liga in the 2012/13 season attracted the interest of Liverpool, who snapped him up that summer for £8 million.

The move did not work out though, with Aspas scoring just once for the Reds in 15 appearances, and he was loaned out to Sevilla for the season just gone. There, he scored 10 times in 19 games, despite being used sparingly. He also finished as the top scorer in the Copa del Rey and won the Europa League with the club.
