Eintracht Frankfurt confirmed the arrival of Luc Castaignos on their official club website. The Dutch talent signed a three-year contract until June 2018.

The Germans are rumoured to have spent around €2.5m to sign the highly-sought after FC Twente youngster.

Smiles all round for Castaignos and Hübner

Sporting director, Bruno Hübner, declared "With Luc Castaignos, we signed a player who is flexible in the attack. Despite his age, he is highly experienced."

The player himself said, "The Bundesliga is one of the best leagues of Europe." He said he is "happy to be here in Frankfurt" and now he can "start compare himself on this high level".

Moreover, the young Dutchman added that, "he watched the last match of Eintracht's season against Leverkusen live in stadium" and that he was "very pleased" with the atmosphere.

A successful comeback in the Netherlands

As a 17-year-old, Luc Castaignos made his first appearance in the Eredivisie for Feyenoord.

In 2011 he moved to Inter Milan for €1.5m but he couldn't establish himself in the first-team, and so he went back to the Netherlands after just one year playing for the Milanese club. He played just six times for Inter, scoring once.

Twente bought the young striker for €6m and it was the perfect decision for Castaignos to head back. In his first season for Twente, he was a regular player for the team and scored 13 goals in 34 matches. The following two seasons were equally goal-filled and successful for the 1.87m tall striker.

Plenty of competition for Castaignos

In Frankfurt he will have a battle against Haris Seferovic and Alexander Meier, the top scorer of last season. It might be that coach Thomas Schaaf will change the formation to accomadate two strikers, or that he will give all three the chance to prove themselves and the best will be the regular forward for next season.
