Roma are set to announce the signing of Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko in the coming days after the two clubs agreed a £14 million fee for the player.

Dzeko looking to reinvent himself

Dzeko signed for City from Bundesliga side Wolfsburg in a £27 million deal back in January 2011 but, despite signing a new four-year deal with the club last summer, the striker struggled to make an impact under Manuel Pellegrini during the last campaign, scoring just six goals in 32 appearances in all competitions.

The Bosnian is set to become the Italian side's fourth signing so far this summer, joining the likes of familiar face Wojciech Szczesny, who recently signed on loan from Arsenal until the end of the season.

Meanwhile, Roma boss Rudi Garcia has also secured a deal for Iago Falque, who has arrived from Genoa for an eventual fee of €9 million, which is due to be paid next summer.

Highly-rated Australian midfielder Daniel De Silva has also joined the Serie A outfit in a €2 million deal from Perth Glory, whilst the loan deal of Colombian striker Victor Ibarbo has been extended until June 2016.

An impressive CV

Dzeko was originally deployed as a midfielder when he began his career with Bosnian side FK Zeljeznicar before eventually finding his feet as a striker with Czech side Teplice.

He then signed for German side Wolfsburg where he went on to become one of the deadliest strikers in European football. Dzeko finished the 2008-09 season with 26 goals, contributing to the formation of the most successful strike duo in Bundesliga history alongside teammate Grafite.

His contributions, which included 10 assists, ultimately handed Wolfsburg the Bundesliga title. He then went onto become the league's top scorer the following season with 22 goals.

The 29-year-old then signed for City in 2011 and went on to lift the Premier League title on two seperate occassions, the first coming in dramatic fashion in the final game of the season, during which Dzeko scored, in the 2011-12 season, before City claimed it again in the 2013-14 campaign.

The Bosnian, who has been capped by his country on 72 occassions, also played a big part in the Manchester side's FA Cup victory in 2010-11 and League Cup success in 2013-14.

Dzeko will leave the Sky Blues having made 185 appearances in all competitions, scoring 71 goals along the way.
