Miralem Pjanic is set to miss three weeks of action after limping off against Andorra on Sunday while serving on international duty.

The ex-Lyon midfielder has begun the campaign impressively, netting a sumptous free-kick in Roma's 2-1 victory over Juventus at the Stadio Olympico.

Not since 2012 has Pjanic missed three consecutive fixtures and the Giallorossi are reportedly furious at Bosnia after Pjanic had informed club doctors of pain during their defeat to Belgium three days earlier.

Missing key matches

With a return date set for September 26, Pjanic is set to miss crucial encounters as Rudi Garcia's side seek to build on the confidence generated with their triumph over the champions.

The Bosnian is set to miss domestic clashes with Frosinone, Sassuolo and Sampdoria, a side whom Roma struggled against last term.

More damningly, however, Roma will be without the midfielder's services when FC Barcelona come to town on September 16.

Pjanic will be available -- permitting a set-back does not occur -- for their trip to BATE Borisov on September 29.

An emphatic beginning to the campaign

Bouyed by victory over Italy's topdogs, Roma will be looking to preserve their unblemised record in the Bosnian's absence.

Granted, Garcia's side could only muster a 1-1 draw against Verona on matchday one -- a clash that sparked dreary memories of last season's malaise -- but they were fully deservered of their victory over Juventus, with Pjanic playing a key role.

The Bosnian curled a mesmerising free-kick into the top corner to open the scoring and it was his compatriot, Edin Džeko, who doubled Roma's advantage.

Pjanic claims that he had no influence over the Manchester City forward's decision to opt for Roma, but his arrival could be the catalyst to an authentic title charge from the capital club. The comparisons to Gabriel Batistuta's capture hold some weight.
