Cristiano Ronaldo’s astounding five goals was the highlight as Real Madrid ran out 6-0 winners over Espanyol.

Ronaldo practically rounded up the match within twenty minutes when he found the back of the net in the 7th, 17th and 20th minutes before he turned provider for Karim Benzema in the 28th minute. Ronaldo was just as prolific in the second period as he added another two goals to his tally to give Rafael Benitez’s side a routine three points.

Ronaldo opens the scoring

After going 500 minutes without a goal, Ronaldo notched his first goal of his La Liga season, as the Portuguese forward managed to latch onto a through ball from Luka Modric and despite the efforts of the defenders, he coolly slotted it beyond the keeper into the bottom corner to give Madrid the lead.

Doubled up

Ronaldo was given the opportunity to get his second goal of the match when Gareth Bale was brought down clumsily by Alvaro and the referee pointed to the spot, he stepped up placed it well beyond the keeper.

Hat-trick hero

Ronaldo rounded off his hat-trick on the 20-minute mark when he finished brilliantly from Bale’s good ball into the area and pretty much rounded off the game.

Benzema adds a fourth

After Keylor Navas did brilliantly to get down to prevent Caicedo’s effort from hitting the back of the net, they added their fourth just before the half hour mark.

Ronaldo turned provider this time around as Bale exposed Espanyol’s high line as he played it through to Ronaldo on the left wing before playing it across the face of goal to the French striker who was waiting at the back post to tap it into the empty net.

He went close himself to getting his second goal of the match just before the break when he found himself free in the area, but his effort came back off the post.

Ronaldo scores again

Ronaldo was chomping at the bit in the second half and almost added his fourth as he was waiting to pounce onto Bale’s ball into the area, but Pau was there to block the effort.

Ronaldo added his fourth and Madrid’s fifth just after the hour mark, it was Bale again, who had proven dangerous throughout the match who provided the assist as he squared the ball to his teammate before turning the ball into the net.

Sevilla howler

Despite been five behind, the home side continued to push their opponents and they will be scratching their heads on how they didn’t get one back in the 72nd minute, Navas did well to parry Gerard Moreno’s header, the ball fell to the feet of Salva Sevilla who had the goal gaping but managed to put it wide of the mark.

Ronaldo rounds it off

With nine minutes to play, Ronaldo rounded off the scoring with his fifth goal of the afternoon. Once again he remained unmarked once again as substitute Vasquez managed to get past his marker before he slotted it through to Ronaldo who swept it home to round off the match and secure the three points.
