After a 10 match winless run, the struggling Lions have opted to replace former manager Torsten Fröhling with Benno Möhlmann.

1860 München are only spared the embarrassment of propping up the 2. Bundesliga table by newly-promoted MSV Duisburg. They've taken just six points from a possible 30 available, the final straw seemingly coming after Friday night's 1-1 draw against DSC Arminia Bielefeld.

Who is Fröhling?

The 48-year-old has been with 1860 München since 2013, where he managed the second-team. In February 2015, he took the first-team job on an interim basis and steered the club to safety after a play-off victory against 3. Liga side Holstien Kiel.

In June 2015, just four months ago, Fröhling extended his contract with the Bavarian side, but poor results have resulted in him losing his job.

And his successor?

Fröhling's successor is former FSV Frankfurt manager Möhlmann. The 61-year-old brings a wealth of managerial experience the post.

Möhlmann's CV includes the managing of teams such as Hamburger SV, Eintracht Braunschweig, FC Ingolstadt 04 and Greuther Fürth, on three occasions.

The former Werder Bremen midfielder has an average win percentage of 39.7% over his managerial career, spanning 23 years.

What they said

1860 CEO Markus Rejek said: "We deeply regret that, after a detailed analysis and careful consideration, we were forced to take this step."

The club are "very grateful to Torsten" with the 2. Bundesliga club hoping "he will stay with us as a person and coach."

1860 would "very much like to continue to integrate him into the future with us at the youth level."

Looking ahead, Möhlmann said: "I'm glad to be here and I want to make the guys to a team with confidence again. The league position is not reflective of the team we have available. We must create a basis and on this set our goals we want to achieve together."
