Paderborn couldn't claim three points despite going ahead in a game once again, as Heidenheim fought their way back to claim a share of the spoils at the Benteler-Arena.

Koc finally makes chances pay

After what was a fairly lacklustre start to the game, Paderborn began to play more expansive football and create more meaningful chances. Süleyman Koc and Moritz Stoppelkamp both went close with strong shots, as Jan Zimmermann did well to keep them at bay.

Marcel Titsch-Rivero had the best opportunity for the visitors, though his shot - like Andreas Voglsammer and Smail Morabit - cleared the bar with his attempt.

They would be shocked by a goal late on in the first half, however, as Paderborn took a deserved lead. A cross was headed down by Srjdan Lakic and Koc was on hand to hammer home at the near post, leaving Zimmermann with no chance. Heidenheim couldn't issue an immediate response and went in behind at the break.

Grimaldi saves Schmidt's side

Adriano Grimaldi come on for Voglsammer at the same time and, similarly to previous matches, made a difference when partnered with Morabit. Ben Halloran had a good, early shot at goal but could only find the side-netting, in what was a tough game for both fans to watch. Mahir Saglik also tried his luck on goal, only for Zimmermann to comfortably deal with it.

There would be a second goal in the game, and it went to Heidenheim. Frank Schmidt's decision to introduce Grimaldi paid off when Morabit slipped him through on goal. The forward kept his cool to slot past Lukas Kruse, levelling the scores with time left for either side to grab a winner. Unfortunately, they didn't manage to mount a serious threat to the respective defence and they ended up level - a fair result in the end.
