Max Kruse has been dropped from the Germany squad ahead of the international friendlies against England and Italy.
Joachim Löw confirmed that the reasoning behind Kruse's departure from the squad was due to unprofessional behaviour off the field. Kruse was reportedly involved in an incident at a nightclub while celebrating his birthday and although the player has since apologised for his behaviour, he was told not to show up for international duty.
Not the first time
This isn't the first time Kruse has been involved in off-field troubles as he was fined for a situation involving poker money back in October. He was also left out of Germany's World Cup winning squad back in 2014 due to another incident.
The repeated offenses have not gone down well with his international coach and it has cost him with the German national team.
Löw spoke to the German Football Association's website, saying, "I made it clear to Max Kruse last week what I expect from him, both on and off the field...I want players who focus on football and the European Championships, even between matches."
He went on to label Kruse as behaving "unprofessionally" and he "does not accept that."
With friendlies this week against England and Italy, Germany will now have one less player in their squad and just two natural strikers after Kruse was dropped.
Will need to work hard to get back into squad for Euro 2016
The Wolfsburg striker will have some work to do to win over his national team coach with Euro 2016 quickly approaching this summer. The 28-year old has made 14 appearances for his country with four goals to his name, including a crucial winner against Georgia to win the European Qualifying Group for his side.
Kruse, who is the second leading scorer for Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga this season with six goals, now faces a clouded international future. With plenty of star power and young talent in Germany's ranks, the striker's form and behaviour will need to improve for him to play under Joachim Löw in the future.
