According to CalcioNapoli24, Napoli President Aurelio de Laurentiis is giving serious consideration to adjusting Kalidou Koulibaly's wage after coming on leaps and bounds, particularly this season.
The Senegal international is currently contracted until 2019 and earns in the region of €800,000 a season, but the new deal will see his wages doubled and a release clause of €40 million attached.
The 24-year-old has shown a remarkable improvement since being signed for Napoli two years ago, after two seasons with Belgian outfit KRC Genk. In his short stint at the Stadio San Paolo thus far, he has made 74 appearances and racked up numerous clean sheets.
Hysaj injured for unknown time
On international duty, Koulibaly's fellow defender Elseid Hysaj took a knock to his ankle and a time of return is still unknown.
During the 2-1 defeat from Austria, Hysaj injured himself but asked to play on. Due to that he is now unavailable for the game against Luxembourg and has had to fly back to Naples. Whether Hysaj will make Napoli's game with Udinese is questionable, with the medical team waiting to assess him on his return.
While on international duty he commented on rumours linking him with Atletico Madrid, saying he is "only focused on Napoli and and on the national team" and that there are "no official offers".
In recent days Paris Saint-Germain forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been sensationally linked with the partenopei.
Reports claimed that the 34-year-old will recieve a base salary of €8 million, and will earn an extra €2 million should Maurizio Sarri's men capture the scudetto.
The striker has, however, confirmed in an interview that there is Premier League interest and he expects "big things" to happen in the summer.
