Richard Sukuta-Pasu has left now fourth-tier Energie Cottus to join SV Sandhausen, signing a two-year deal with the 2. Bundesliga outfit.
Sukuta-Pasu only joined Energie last summer, returning to Germany from Belgium to put pen to paper on a two-year contract, but has departed after just one season after the club were relegated from the 3. Liga after finishing 19th in the standings.
However, the 25-year-old did enough to avoid relegation himself, scoring 10 goals in 31 appearances to catch the eye of those higher up the German football pyramid and land himself a deal with Sandhausen.
Speaking to the club's official website, manager Alois Schwartz spoke of how Sandhausen are "pleased" to have secured the services of Sukuta-Pasu, a player he described as a "robust" striker.
Schwartz sees the German as someone who can make the team's "offensive range even more flexible."
Time to step up
Sukuta-Pasu is no stranger to the higher tiers of German football, even if he has been out of touch with them in recent years.
Having started his career with Bayer Leverkusen, the forward has also played for FC St. Pauli and 1. FC Kaiserslautern in the top flight.
More recently, he spent time with VfL Bochum in the second division in 2013-14, scoring six league goals.
However, Sukuta-Pasu has failed to live up to the potential he showed as a youngster - potential which saw him dubbed as a promising young talent at Leverkusen and earn 53 caps at youth level for Germany, scoring 20 goals.
He will hope to prove his talent higher up the pyramid now after finding some form in the third division this year, and Sandhausen will hope so too in order to help them improve on last term's 13th placed finish.
