Russia have not had the best of times in the build up to Euro 2016 after failing to win either of their two friendly matches.

They were beaten by Czech Republic last week and failed to achieve victory when up against Serbia on Sunday.

Pre tournament results

The two warm up matches that Russia have had in the past week were meant to be the perfect preparation before what promises to be an exciting tournament. However, Russia's inability to deny their opponents late on in both matches has cost them dearly.

In their first friendly, Russia lead early through Aleksandr Kokorin but Tomáš Rosicky levelled for the Czechs. Tomáš Necid then netted in the 90th minute to cruelly deny the Russians.

It was a similar story when Russia faced Serbia at the weekend. Artem Dzyuba must have thought he had earned Russia a much-needed friendly win until Newcastle's Aleksandar Mitrovic equalised in the 88th minute.

The two late goals conceded by Russia may have a big impact on the squad's confidence as they head to France.

More injuries

Key players such as Alan Dzagoev have already been ruled out of the tournament this summer, but this week there was more bad news within the Russia camp.

Igor Denisov suffered an injury to his hamstring in the Serbia match and has had to withdraw from the 23-man squad. Artur Yusupov has been called up to the team in his place.

Whether Yusupov was the first choice replacement is yet to be seen, as it has been revealed this week that he was conveniently staying in the same hotel that the Russia team are using. Yusupov was on holiday at the time of his call up but has trained with his countrymen this week.

The opening game

Russia won their first game of Euro 2012 in style, as they easily swept aside a classy Czech Republic side. This time around, however, they face a tougher task in the form of England. The Three Lions are heading to France full of confidence after good friendly results and fine individual performances this season.

The two teams kick off their tournaments on Saturday 11th June.
