Wales will now play the winner of the game between Hungary and Belgium, who play on Sunday evening, in the quarter finals and they will have no fear going into that game.
Northern Ireland have had a brilliant tournament and got further than a lot of people would have expected and are unlucky to go out the way they did. A bit of quality from Bale though has seen them get knocked out.
Wales have made it through to the quarter finals of Euro 2016 after Gareth McAuley scored an own goal 15 minutes from the end of the game.

75' - Goal for Wales! Gareth McAuley has turned the ball into this own net. A brilliant ball from Bale into the box caused the confusion and McAuley had no choice but to deflect it into his own net. Massive moment in the game.
69' - Northern Ireland substitution: Ward is replaced by Connor Washington.
67' - Steven Davis receives a yellow card for a late tackle on Bale.
62' - Wales subtitution: Ledley is replaced by Johnny Williams.
58' - Neil Taylor receives a yellow card for a trip on Ward who was on the counter attack for Northern Ireland.
58' - Oliver Norwood gives away a free kick in Bale territory and the superstar produces a great effort but it is well saved by Michael McGovern who got strong hands to the ball to keep it out.
55' - Wales substitution: Vokes is replaced by Hal Robson-Kanu.
53' - Ramsey produces a brilliant cross into the box to Vokes who should have at least put it on target but didn't as he put his header wide. Best chance of the game for the Welsh side.
48' - Northern Ireland begin the second half on the front foot getting right on top of Wales without creating many chances of note.

The first half has flown by but there hasn't been many chances with both teams being very cagey as they try and get to grips of the game. Overall though Michael O'Neill will probably be the happier of the two managers so far. Stay tuned as we bring you the second half in a few minutes time.
45' - The referee blows the whistle for half time. Wales 0-0 Northern Ireland.
44' - Dallas receives the first yellow card of the game for a late challenge on Gareth Bale and that will mean if Northern Ireland make it through he will miss the quarter-final.
35' - Wales are now starting to press Northern Ireland hard to try and get the opening goal but the Green and White army are standing strong at the back to not give away many chances.
25' - Johnny Evans produces a decent cross into the box but Kyle Lafferty put his header over the bar.
22' - Jamie Ward unleashed a fierce shot from the edge of the box for Northern Ireland and Hennessey had to alive to it to keep it out.
19' - Aaron Ramsey puts the ball in the back of the net but was flagged offside which was the correct decision. The move from Wales was good and a good delivery into the box found Sam Vokes who headed the ball towards goal and Ramsey put it in but was offside.
17' - Wales are starting to see more of the ball now after Northern Ireland kept the ball well for the first 15 minutes of the game.
10' - A great move from Northern Ireland ends with Stuart Dallas unleashing a powerful shot from the edge of the box which Wayne Hennessey gets down well to save.
6' - It has been a very cagey start from both sides as they try and see how each other are going about their gameplans for the game.
1' - The referee blows the whistle to begin this highly anticpated clash.
Both teams are out on the field to sing their national anthems. It should be some atmosphere this evening.

Tonight's referee is Martin Atkinson; the experienced Englishman is a regular in the Barclays Premier League and has been for a decade. This will be Atkinson's third appointment of the tournament, having already taken charge of Germany's 2-0 win over Ukraine and Hungary's spectacular three-all draw with Portugal.
Northern Ireland predicted line-up: (4-1-4-1) McGovern; Hughes, Cathcart, McAuley, J. Evans; C. Evans; Ward, Norwood, Davis, Dallas; Lafferty.
Wales predicted line-up: (3-4-1-2) Hennessey; Chester, Williams, Davies; Gunter, Allen, Ledley, Taylor; Ramsey; Bale, Vokes.
For both sides, and managers, they can breathe a sigh of relief as they have fully fit and available squads to choose from. However, the pair do have suspension worries lingering over their heads. Sam Vokes and Ben Davies are one yellow card away from missing a potential quarter final, while the same can be said of Northern Ireland's Craig Cathcart, Stuart Dallas, Jonny Evans and Jamie Ward.
Michael O'Neill also had his say to the gathered media, "The players were really upbeat knowing we would be coming back to the Parc des Princes." He continued, "We've played here obviously on Tuesday night against the world champions and I think the experience of doing that will serve us well come the game tomorrow night." O'Neill concluded, "We'll have to be at our best, it will be a different type of game."
Aside from both managers paying tribute to the other and their team, there is a game at hand. Chris Coleman believes, "There's not a team in this tournament who can think past the next game. Nine times out of ten, the games are very close." The Wales boss added, "It's one game and it's all about tomorrow. It's about getting our mind right."
It will be the second so-called British Derby of the tournament for Wales on Saturday evening, when they meet the Northern Irish in the French capital. Wales topped Group B to get here, winning against Russia and Slovakia - ultimately defeat to England did not prove costly. As for Northern Ireland, their solitary win over Ukraine was enough to see them join Wales in advancing from the Group stages in their debut Euro adventure.
These two teams last met back in March, where they played out a 1-1 draw in Cardiff. Craig Cathcart opened the scoring for Northern Ireland after a set-piece, but a last-minute trip inside the area by Gareth McAuley gave Wales the chance to equalise from the spot. Simon Church did just that, and the friendly ended level.
