France manager Didier Deschamps stressed the fact that his side haven't won anything yet as they qualified for the Euro 2016 final, whilst admitting that his players have made history on their home turf.

Les Blues defeated Germany 2-0 on Thursday night thanks to an Antoine Griezmann brace, setting up a meeting with Portugal in Sunday's grand final, one which they're expected to win without too much trouble.

Nothing is won - yet

Speaking to the media after the win, Deschamps revealed his delight at what he described as an "excellent result", but explained that "it gives us nothing today", except the chance to challenge for the title against Portugal.

He noted that being at home and having knocked out the World Champions doesn't give France any added advantage, simply stating "they [Portugal] believe in themselves and we [France] believe in ourselves too".

Fans willed France on

The atmosphere at the Stade Velodrome, and in the Parisian fan parks, was magnificent throughout the 90 minutes, with the partisan home crowd roaring France into the final.

Thanking the fans for their brilliant support, Deschamps took the chance to acknowledge that he was hoping for France to repay them on Sunday, quipping "We don't have the power to solve people's problems, but we can gave them a bit so they can forget their worries".

Deschamps admitted that although it doesn't guarantee anything, the win was one that will live long in the memory of himself, the players and the fans, stating that "the players wrote history by knocking out Germany".

They'll attempt to write a little more history on Sunday against Cristiano Ronaldo's Portugal side, who beat Wales 2-0 in the first semi-final on Wednesday night. Kick-off at the Stade de France is set for 8PM, with the festival of football to finally draw to a close.
