Besiktas midfielder Jose Sosa is taking his medical tests at AC Milan, ahead of his move to San Siro from Turkish champions Besiktas.

The 31-year-old, who has plied his trade with Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich for three years from 2007 to 2010, is expected to pen a two-year contract at Milan later today and will cost the Rossoneri around €7.5 million.

Sosa landed in Milan yesterday night and told Sky Italia on landing: “I'm ready to begin on this new path.”

Sosa: A forgotten star

Sosa is an attacking midfielder by trade, but can also be deployed on either wing. The Argentine played a vital role in helping Besiktas claim their 14th Turkish league title last season, scoring nine times and racking up 14 assists on the way.

The former Bayern Munich man joined Besiktas from Ukrainian club Metalist Kharkiv, where he also had a loan spell at Spanish giants Atletico Madrid in 2014, before leaving Metalist in 2015.

More business to be done for Milan?

Sosa's capture would appear to mean that Milan have dropped their interest in Boca Juniors youngster Rodrigo Bentancur, who has also drawn links with last season's Scudetto winners Juventus.

Vincenzo Montella's side has been more active in terms of departures, than in terms of arrivals. The Rossoneri have signed a triumvirate of players, which includes Gianluca Lapadula from Pescara, Gustavo Gomez from Lanus and Leonel Vangioni from River Plate.

This summer has also witnessed the departures of Kevin-Prince Boateng, Jeremy Menez, Simone Verdi and Stephan El-Sharaawy, amongst others.
