On Thursday, the four Bundesliga sides found out who they would be facing in the UEFA Champions League group stages.
Borussia Mönchengladbach booked their place in the draw, alongside Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen, after beating Young Boys 9-2 on aggregate.
The Foals have been handed the hardest draw on paper, though all four will face tough tests in a bid to make it into the knockout rounds.
Bayern face Atlético once more
The current Bundesliga champions meet Atlético Madrid once again in Europe's top club competition, and will keen to avenge last season's semi-final heartache.
Carlo Ancelotti will be hoping his experience in Europe can help push Bayern towards Champions League glory, starting with Diego Simeone's men.
The two teams should be comfortable in securing the top two places, though PSV Eindhoven and FC Rostov could prove stern opposition.
Dortmund meet Real
There will also be a familiar match up in Group F, when Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid go toe-to-toe once more.
Given the ties that the two teams produced in recent years, these group stage fixtures have all the makings of instant classics.
Sporting CP and Legia Warsaw are the other two sides that make up the quartet, although the German and Spanish giants will fancy their chances of finishing above both.
Leverkusen take on Spurs, CSKA and Monaco
In what could be the most evenly matched group of all eight drawn, Bayer Leverkusen will fancy their chances of finishing top.
Despite being drawn against Tottenham Hotspur, CSKA Moscow and AS Monaco, Roger Schmidt's side have the potential to topple all three teams.
With an exciting transfer window behind them, they can count on Kevin Volland and co. to trouble defences, but they will have to be on top form to do so.
Gladbach given the group of death once more
Last but not least is Gladbach, who were given a very unenviable group draw and will find it though to make it into the last 16.
FC Barcelona, Manchester City and Celtic await as they meet the blue half of Manchester in the tournament's toughest group for the second year running.
After running City close last year and being a constant thorn in Bayern's side with Pep Guardiola in charge, the Foals will fancy their chances of an upset.
