Torino have regretfully confirmed that striker Andrea Belotti has suffered an injury and it looks like he could be out for 2-3 weeks.

The youngster, who has got his Serie A season of to a flyer with four goals in two games has suffered "an important elongation of the rectus femoris of the right thigh."

22-year-old Belotti suffered the injury on international duty in training in the lead up to Italy's opening World Cup Qualifier with Israel and was forced to pull out of Giampiero Ventura's squad.

The Granata could add that "Further tests will be made in the coming days, to better define the prognosis" and the former Palermo striker "has already begun physical therapy."

Thankfully for Torino, they face three "lesser" opponents while star man Belotti is on the sidelines. After the international break they face Atalanta away from home, Empoli at home and promoted Pescara away too. Belotti could very well return for the third game listed which'll ideally be when Sinisa Mihajlovic would want him back to allow him some game time before they face Roma and Fiorentina in the two following weeks.

Second injury blow for national team

Belotti was the second to suffer an injury while with the national team following Daniele De Rossi in doing so.

De Rossi, who has over 100 caps, limped off in the friendly with France which the Azzurri lost 3-1 in and Roma have since confirmed he has suffered an injury to his calf.

Whether Belotti will make the next squad to face Spain and Macedonia is unknown as he'll be out of action in the lead up to the games in October but he could perhaps take solace in the fact Ventura knows him from managing him beforehand so could catch a break there and be included.
