On Wednesday evening, Borussia Dortmund host 1. FC Union Berlin in the second round of the DFB Pokal, looking to put recent poor form behind them after only winning one of their last six games in all competitions.
Inconsistent hosts
Thomas Tuchel's side have hit a poor run of form at a bad time which has seen them slip six points behind leaders Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga after eight games.
Their only win in the last six games came in the UEFA Champions League last week, as they managed to defeat Sporting Lisbon 2-1 away from home.
In the Bundesliga however, they have failed to win in the last three games with the most recent match at the weekend finishing 3-3 with FC Ingolstadt 04 away from home.
The main thing though to note ahead of the game is that the Black and Yellows are unbeaten in their last 18 matches at home in all competitions stretching back to December 2015 so, therefore, will be confident of adding to that on Wednesday.
Visitor's in great form
The hosts will not need to take second-tier Berlin lightly as they are looking like strong contenders for promotion to the top flight next season given how well they are doing currently with 11 games gone in the season.
Eiserne sit second in the table - five points behind leaders Eintracht Braunschweig and will be looking to continue their impressive form which has seen them win six of their last seven matches.
The latest victory came at the weekend when they defeated Erzgebirge Aue 3-1 thanks to a brace of goals from Damir Kreilach, and manager Jens Keller will be looking for top scorer Collin Quaner to help his side cause an huge upset at Signal Iduna Park.
Hosts won previous two meetings
The sides have faced each other twice, with Dortmund coming out on top on both ocassions with the most recent meeting back in January when Tuchel's side won 3-1 away from home.
Team News
Ahead of the game, Tuchel didn't have much good news on the injury front. Only Sokratis, who missed the last few games due to injury, is back in training and available for selection.
The main problem though is that top scorer Pierre- Emerick Aubameyang is a huge doubt for the game due to a swollen calf muscle, while wingers Ousmane Dembele and Christian Pulisic are both ill ahead of the game.
On the other hand, the visitors will be without defenders Michael Parensen and Fabian Schonheim due to injury but captain Felix Kroos may return to the squad after recovering from knock he picked up recently.
