After an enthralling match, that's the end of VAVEL UK's live coverage. I've been Matt Addison; thanks for following. Time to catch our breath!

15 October 2018 9:58 PM GMT

It could have been very different had Pickford conceded a penalty, or if Aspas had played a through-ball or two more accurately, but England got away with it.

15 October 2018 9:55 PM GMT

England only had three shots on target all game, scoring each time. They only had 27% possession. Even so, the enjoyment level was much more positive than usual. England still have strides to make, but this was a great team performance.

15 October 2018 9:54 PM GMT

This is the kind of showing that England need to recapture more often. Make every game this exciting, and international football will be much more appealing. Rarely have international fixtures brought this much pace and quality. Perhaps the Nations League isn't so bad after all!

15 October 2018 9:52 PM GMT

This was the best international game I can remember watching for a long time. From Friday's bore-draw to this - what a turnaround!

15 October 2018 9:48 PM GMT

Spain will feel unfortunate not to get something from the game, but they fell into the trap of not doing enough when they had the ball. Possession is important, but England showed more conviction when their chances came.

15 October 2018 9:48 PM GMT

If England beat Croatia next month and Spain fail to beat Croatia the same week, then England will progress to the Nations League final four mini-tournament next summer on head-to-head.

15 October 2018 9:47 PM GMT

At the back, Gomez and Maguire had to stand firm for much of the game, but they did just that.

15 October 2018 9:46 PM GMT

Marcus Rashford was also very good for England this evening - a promising sign for the future.

15 October 2018 9:45 PM GMT

The Manchester City winger was excellent tonight and got his goals. He doubled his tally for England in the space of 22 minutes!

15 October 2018 9:44 PM GMT

Raheem Sterling to Sky Sports: "It was a brilliant team performance. We were clinical. We started really well and took the chances really well. I need to keep [the goalscoring] going."

15 October 2018 9:43 PM GMT

Sterling's double and Rashford's neat finish put England far enough ahead that the result was decided in the first half. Spain got two back and could easily have got something from the game - but this night will live long in the memory for Southgate and England.

15 October 2018 9:42 PM GMT

England were ruthless tonight, and that was a brilliant performance and result. This was better than anything they produced during the World Cup run that sent them to the semi-finals.

15 October 2018 9:41 PM GMT

FULL-TIME! That goal was the final touch! England just about hold on.

15 October 2018 9:39 PM GMT

GOAL! Ramos makes it 3-2 from close range.

15 October 2018 9:39 PM GMT

90+7' Close! Alonso hits the crossbar with a header! So unfortuante. They have had a couple of those chances tonight.

15 October 2018 9:38 PM GMT

90+6' Chilwell makes another block which goes behind for a corner. The Leicester man has had another excetional game tonight.

15 October 2018 9:38 PM GMT

90+5' Chilwell's block almost ends up swirling into the net, but Pickford grasps the ball confidently.

15 October 2018 9:37 PM GMT

90+4' Alcacer heads over after Morata clips a cross back to the penalty spot.

15 October 2018 9:35 PM GMT

90+2' The corner comes to nothing. England are very nearly there - what an incredible result. There are seven added minutes in total.

15 October 2018 9:33 PM GMT

90+1' England try to retain the ball in the corner, but Spain win it back. Spain have a corner.

15 October 2018 9:33 PM GMT

England sub: Winks comes off to be replaced by Chalobah.

15 October 2018 9:31 PM GMT

90' Sterling is fouled by Morata and England can waste a few more seconds as we head towards added time.

15 October 2018 9:31 PM GMT

89' Rashford is almost in again, but De Gea sprints out to get there first. Not long to go now.

15 October 2018 9:30 PM GMT

88' Close! Pickford saves from Asensio, and the ball bounces off Morata and goes wide. That could have gone anywhere!

15 October 2018 9:29 PM GMT

87' Rashford does brilliantly to run the ball clear. He wins a foul from Ceballos, who goes into the book.

15 October 2018 9:28 PM GMT

86' Shouts of handball inside the area but nothing given. Spain are really penning England back, but still they hold on.

15 October 2018 9:27 PM GMT

England sub: Trent Alexander-Arnold comes on for Trippier.

15 October 2018 9:26 PM GMT

85' Dier comes in with a late tackle which is given as a foul, but he escapes a second yellow card.

15 October 2018 9:26 PM GMT

84' Asensio shoots wide from distance. Pickford had it covered all the way. Spain are running out of time.

15 October 2018 9:25 PM GMT

82' Thiago drags a shot wide from the edge of the area.

15 October 2018 9:22 PM GMT

81' Kane tries to go past Ramos in the box but the Real Madrid man does well to shield him out for a goal-kick.

15 October 2018 9:22 PM GMT

80' Alcacer almost finds the top corner with a cross but Pickford does well. Morata then whips in a cross but there is no one in the middle to connect.

15 October 2018 9:21 PM GMT

79' England have done well to contain Spain so far but there is still 15 minutes to go at least. It's wave after wave of Spanish attacks.

15 October 2018 9:20 PM GMT

78' Busquets prevents Sterling from breaking away and somehow does not pick up a booking.

15 October 2018 9:19 PM GMT

77' Walker does indeed slot into a back three. Kane is up top on his own with Sterling and Rashford pulled deeper. All hands on deck now.

15 October 2018 9:18 PM GMT

England sub: Walker comes on for Barkley. A change of formation for the Three Lions - three at the back?

15 October 2018 9:17 PM GMT

75' Ramos' cross is touched down by Morata, but Maguire hooks clear in the nick of time.

15 October 2018 9:16 PM GMT

73' Gomez picks a great pass into Rashford, who thought he was in, but the flag goes up. If he could have waited a second, he would have been in on goal!

15 October 2018 9:15 PM GMT

Spain sub: Morata comes on for Rodrigo. The final roll of the dice for Luis Enrique.

15 October 2018 9:14 PM GMT

72' Alonso shoots over the top from the free-kick.

15 October 2018 9:13 PM GMT

71' Maguire now goes into the book for a similar challenge to Dier's in the first half. He clearly took the ball, but the follow-through is deemed dangerous.

15 October 2018 9:13 PM GMT

70' Gomez launches the ball clear after Alonso headed the ball down at the far post. England have defended well but Spain are attacking in waves now.

15 October 2018 9:11 PM GMT

69' Maguire re-enters the field after treatment and the game restarts. There will be a fair bit off added time in this one.

15 October 2018 9:10 PM GMT

68' Maguire is down with an injury - a worry for Leicester City.

15 October 2018 9:09 PM GMT

67' England are dropping deeper and deeper, but still have a two-goal cushion. Alonso plays a one-two but then his cross goes straight to Pickford.

15 October 2018 9:08 PM GMT

65' Spain are riled and have a succession of corners. This is going to be some last 20 minutes.

15 October 2018 9:07 PM GMT

64' PENALTY!? NO! What is Pickford thinking? He tried a Cruyff turn, lost the ball and then fouled Rodrigo, who was set to score. The referee, though, has given a corner! England get away with it.

15 October 2018 9:06 PM GMT

63' The game is back underway after a brief stoppage for treatment.

15 October 2018 9:03 PM GMT

61' Ramos and Kane are both down with head injuries. The Spanish defender concedes a foul for coming over the top of the English captain. England will welcome the breather.

15 October 2018 9:02 PM GMT

60' That was poor from Pickford to concede the corner and then slack marking from England. The forward was left completely free. The stadium is suddenly alive again.

15 October 2018 9:01 PM GMT

GOAL! Alcacer's first touch sees him head home from the set-piece. A sensational header at the near post.

15 October 2018 9:00 PM GMT

58' Asensio's cross is poor but Pickford spills it behind for a corner.

15 October 2018 8:59 PM GMT

Spain subs: Alcacer and Ceballos come on for Aspas and Saul.

15 October 2018 8:58 PM GMT

56' A replay shows that Sterling went down far too easily under minimal contact from Jonny. The referee called it perfectly.

15 October 2018 8:57 PM GMT

55' Sterling goes down inside the box, but nothing is given. Spain then counter, but it was one long pass that undid them.

15 October 2018 8:56 PM GMT

54' England confidently and calmly pass out from the back. They sensibly keep hold of the ball for a few moments, before the referee halts the game to speak to Aspas, who is shouting at him off the ball.

15 October 2018 8:56 PM GMT

53' Aspas looks to play in Asensio but his through-ball is loose and Pickford can easily collect it.

15 October 2018 8:54 PM GMT

52' Two fouls in quick succession for Spain, on Barkley and then Chilwell. Spain look frustrated.

15 October 2018 8:53 PM GMT

51' Asensio shoots and it looks like it has gone in but England survive. Gomez got a block in and it hit the side-netting.

15 October 2018 8:52 PM GMT

50' Kane crosses low for Sterling but it goes into the gloves of De Gea.

15 October 2018 8:51 PM GMT

49' Saul seizes on a loose ball but can only volley over the top from distance and from an angle.

15 October 2018 8:50 PM GMT

48' Rashford is almost in again but De Gea rushes out and Spain get it clear. Chances will come for England on the counter-attack, and if they are as clinical as they were in the first 45, there could be even more goals for them.

15 October 2018 8:50 PM GMT

47' Spain settle back into their pattern of keeping the ball. They need an early goal, you would think.

15 October 2018 8:48 PM GMT

46' We are back underway. A big 45 minutes for Southgate's men.

15 October 2018 8:46 PM GMT

46' We are back underway. A big 45 minutes for Southgate's men.

15 October 2018 8:46 PM GMT

England's players have come back out for the second half.

15 October 2018 8:46 PM GMT

What a result it would be for England if they can maintain this lead. The second half is coming shortly.

15 October 2018 8:43 PM GMT

0-3 probably flatters the visitors a little, but Southgate and the travelling fans will not care. There are plenty of smiles on the faces of England fans at the break.

15 October 2018 8:35 PM GMT

For all Spain's possession - they have seen 68% of the ball so far - England have been comfortable for periods. When England have countered, they have done so with precision, speed and quality, which is reflected in the scoreline.

15 October 2018 8:33 PM GMT

Southgate's side are in dreamland in Seville. No one saw this scoreline coming! Rashford and Sterling have been in fine form so far, bringing that clinical edge to their game that has been lacking at international level before.

15 October 2018 8:32 PM GMT

HALF-TIME! What a half for England!

15 October 2018 8:30 PM GMT

45' Aspas wins a corner which is taken short. The first ball is headed clear but Spain come again.

15 October 2018 8:29 PM GMT

43' Alonso volleys wide from 35 yards after Thiago set him up. For all Spain's dominance on the ball, they have not really tested Pickford too often.

15 October 2018 8:28 PM GMT

42' Asensio hits the wall with a free-kick conceded by Maguire on the edge of the box. Nothing is going right for the Real Madrid winger as of yet.

15 October 2018 8:26 PM GMT

40' England's players have come more and more into the match as time has gone by, and are five minutes away from going in with a huge lead here. Spain started the better, but England have been excellent.

15 October 2018 8:26 PM GMT

40' England's players have come more and more into the match as time has gone by, and are five minutes away from going in with a huge lead here. Spain started the better, but England have been excellent.

15 October 2018 8:26 PM GMT

38' This has been much better than Friday night! Instead of going in two ahead, it might just be three! Spain have seen most of the ball, but England have been clinical when the chances have come. The hosts have been leaky at the back and haven't scored themselves when they've had the opportunity.

15 October 2018 8:24 PM GMT

GOAL! It's 3-0 to England! Sterling has his second after a superb ball in behind from Barkley. Great movement, clinical.

15 October 2018 8:23 PM GMT

37' Barkley and then Kane shoot from the edge of the box but both attempts are charged down.

15 October 2018 8:22 PM GMT

36' Trippier is fouled by Alonso in his own half. England are less than ten minutes away from going in at the interval with a two-goal lead - what an achievement that would be.

15 October 2018 8:21 PM GMT

35' Rodrigo flicks on a cross from Asensio and it goes behind for a goal-kick.

15 October 2018 8:20 PM GMT

34' Busquets plays the ball out for a throw. England are so confident at the moment, and Spain seem shocked.

15 October 2018 8:19 PM GMT

32' Kane drags a shot wide but Rashford is called offside earlier in the move. England have been able to counter-attack freely with Spain pushing men on.

15 October 2018 8:17 PM GMT

31' It was a world-class pass from Kane to set him in, and a world-class finish against his clubmate De Gea. England are 2-0 up, completely against the run of play.

15 October 2018 8:15 PM GMT

GOAL! Rashford makes it 2-0!

15 October 2018 8:14 PM GMT

29' Saul goes past Maguire with ease and sets up Asensio, but the winger's attempted bicycle kick fails.

15 October 2018 8:14 PM GMT

28' Thiago has been sensational so far, and he takes the ball off Winks in this instance. The Bayern man has been the best player on the pitch by some distance.

15 October 2018 8:13 PM GMT

27' Ramos plays a long pass into the feet of Rodrigo but the Valencia man is offside.

15 October 2018 8:12 PM GMT

26' Thiago is fouled by Maguire, who saw the challenge coming a mile off.

15 October 2018 8:11 PM GMT

25' Winks almost plays in Sterling but Alonso intercepts.

15 October 2018 8:10 PM GMT

24' England are working hard to block off passing lanes, but Spain are having all of the ball. Those in white could do with a period of possession for themselves.

15 October 2018 8:09 PM GMT

23' Thiago's set-piece is just about scraped clear by Pickford. Spain are building a head of steam.

15 October 2018 8:08 PM GMT

22' Alonso is fouled by Trippier. There was very little contact, but Spain have a chance to put the ball into the box.

15 October 2018 8:07 PM GMT

21' Spain have tried to respond but had started the game well. They seem a little shaken. Their extremely high line has caused a few problems early on.

15 October 2018 8:05 PM GMT

19' "We are staying up" sing the England supporters.

15 October 2018 8:04 PM GMT

18' Asensio comes inside and shoots when he had far better options on. His teammates in the middle are left frustrated - that would have been an immediate response.

15 October 2018 8:03 PM GMT

16' Sterling gave De Gea no chance in the 1v1 situation. He was clearly onside and he rammed it home into the top corner! England lead.

15 October 2018 8:02 PM GMT

GOAL! Sterling has his goal! What a finish after he was played in by Rashford.

15 October 2018 8:01 PM GMT

14' England head the corner clear and almost counter-attack but Kane's pass is overhit.

15 October 2018 7:59 PM GMT

13' Saul's ball towards Rodrigo goes through to Pickford. Spain are seeing the majority of the ball, and they win another corner kick.

15 October 2018 7:58 PM GMT

11' De Gea plays the ball out for a throw-in under excellent pressure from England. Dier then slides in on Ramos and gets a yellow card despite clearly getting the ball.

15 October 2018 7:56 PM GMT

9' Another nervy moment for Gomez; Trippier was caught on his heels and Asensio went between the pair of them. The Spaniard's shot was weak and easily collected by Pickford.

15 October 2018 7:54 PM GMT

8' Kane is fouled by Nacho on the halfway line. Chilwell plays the kick short. Trippier is then caught offside.

15 October 2018 7:53 PM GMT

6' It's been a rapid start to the game. Pickford's goal was almost breached - it was Alonso who connected with the flick-on - but England got through that sticky moment.

15 October 2018 7:51 PM GMT

5' Ramos almost scores from the corner but England survive - just! Asensio then flies in a volley which is bravely headed clear by Maguire.

15 October 2018 7:50 PM GMT

4' Jonny wins a corner after being played in behind. He could have looked for Asensio but he didn't see him. Thiago then smashes one wide from the edge of the box -and it's another corner as it took a deflection.

15 October 2018 7:49 PM GMT

3' Sterling goes down too easily and looks hopefully at the Polish referee, but nothing is given.

15 October 2018 7:48 PM GMT

2' Gomez played a poor ball out after a perfect touch. Spain almost got in, but Aspas failed to make his pass.

15 October 2018 7:48 PM GMT

1' Eric Dier has sought out Sergio Busquets already. He might have to keep a special eye on the midfield general if England are to have success here.

15 October 2018 7:46 PM GMT

KICK OFF! Spain get the game underway.

15 October 2018 7:45 PM GMT

Anthems completed, the teams are lining up. Here we go!

15 October 2018 7:44 PM GMT

And now the Spanish anthem is played. We are less than five minutes from the match beginning.

15 October 2018 7:42 PM GMT

God Save The Queen rings out around the stadium, accompanied by boos and whistles from the Spanish crowd.

15 October 2018 7:41 PM GMT

The teams are emerging from the tunnel, with Harry Kane and Sergio Ramos leading their players out. The atmosphere is electric - very different from Friday night in Croatia!

15 October 2018 7:40 PM GMT

Both team's warm-ups are complete. There's less than 15 minutes to go until kick-off now.

15 October 2018 7:33 PM GMT

Marcus Rashford, too, will be hoping for a goal. He missed a couple of big chances in the stalemate against Croatia on Friday as well as when Spain came to Wembley last month. A goal would do his confidence the world of good.

15 October 2018 7:29 PM GMT

It's a big game for Raheem Sterling. He probably won't get too many chances against this Spain team, but when he does, he has to be ruthless. Two goals in 45 caps for his country - the last of which came in 2015 - is nowhere near his Manchester City level.

15 October 2018 7:21 PM GMT

Gareth Southgate: "We know at times we will have to defend. It's a great challenge for us. We are focused on performance - that's what dictates results. We have got to be more ruthless with our finishing."

15 October 2018 7:16 PM GMT

Even if England were to win tonight, they would be relying on Croatia to beat Spain in their final game of the group. If that happened, England would also need to beat Croatia for them to progress in the tournament.

15 October 2018 6:56 PM GMT

Spain have not lost a competitive game on home soil since 2003, and this is technically a competitive game - could tonight see that change? Gareth Southgate will certainly be hoping so. If not, it will be mathematically confirmed that England cannot top the group, with one match - at home to Croatia - remaining.

15 October 2018 6:54 PM GMT

Kick off is just under an hour away in Seville, where heavy rain has been pouring from the heavens for some time. Showers are forecast during the game, but the pitch is playable. There had been a question from some over whether the game would go ahead such was the deluge, but Real Betis' pitch has survived.

15 October 2018 6:52 PM GMT

It would certainly be fair to say Spain have a stronger bench to call upon! Many of those players would get into England's starting XI.

15 October 2018 6:49 PM GMT

England subs: Butland, Bettinelli, Walker, Alexander-Arnold, Dunk, Chalobah, Mount, Maddison, Sancho

15 October 2018 6:47 PM GMT

Spain subs: Kepa, Pau Lopez, Albiol, Morata, Koke, Alcacer, Suso, Azpilicueta, Rodri, Gaya, Bartra, Ceballos

15 October 2018 6:46 PM GMT

For England, Gomez comes into the team as expected, as does Winks. According to the BBC's Ian Dennis, this is the youngest England XI of the 21st century with an average age of just over 23.

15 October 2018 6:40 PM GMT

Interesting to see Wolves' Jonny start at right-back for the hosts, while their front three are exciting. In midfield, Thiago Alcantara is exactly the kind of player England crave.

15 October 2018 6:39 PM GMT

England XI: Pickford, Trippier, Maguire, Gomez, Chilwell, Dier, Barkley, Winks, Sterling, Kane, Rashford

15 October 2018 6:36 PM GMT

Spain XI: De Gea, Jonny, Nacho, Ramos, M. Alonso, Busquets, Saul, Thiago, Asensio, Rodrigo, Aspas

15 October 2018 6:34 PM GMT

Team news should be with us around 18:30 BST – stay with us for all the build-up as we count down to kick-off.

13 October 2018 3:05 PM GMT

In the previous three meetings between the sides, Spain have won twice and there has been one draw. England last beat tonight’s hosts in 2011 when Frank Lampard scored the only goal. Sancho would only just moved to secondary school at that point, while Mason Mount, who is in this England squad, is now managed by Lampard at Derby County

13 October 2018 3:05 PM GMT

Chelsea trio Cesar Azpilicueta, Alonso and Alvaro Morata will be hoping to line-up against the country they reside in, with Manchester United’s David de Gea between the sticks.

13 October 2018 3:04 PM GMT

That night was an opportunity for Luis Enrique to mix up his starting XI; time will tell whether the likes of Koke and Marco Asensio come back in for this game.

13 October 2018 3:04 PM GMT

Spain comfortably saw off a Gareth Bale-less Wales on Thursday night in a friendly in Cardiff. Paco Alcacer was in fine form that night, notching two, while AC Milan and former Liverpool midfielder Suso impressed, too, grabbing two assists.

13 October 2018 3:04 PM GMT

Another young star, James Maddison, could get his first taste of senior action tonight, as 18-year-old Jadon Sancho did on Friday, impressing with his deft touches and speed.

13 October 2018 3:03 PM GMT

Ben Chilwell had an excellent game on Friday night in the absence of Danny Rose and he will likely start this one too. The Leicester City man was making his first senior start, but looked comfortable at the back and going forward – you would never have noticed his lack of experience.

13 October 2018 3:03 PM GMT

Both John Stones and Jordan Henderson are suspended for England having picked up two yellow cards over the two matches previous to this one, meaning manager Gareth Southgate has some tinkering to do. Joe Gomez appears the most likely candidate to slot in at the back, while Tottenham’s Harry Winks could come into the midfield.

13 October 2018 3:03 PM GMT

England drew 0-0 with Croatia in front of an empty stadium in Rijeka on Friday night; we can only hope that there is a little more entertainment tonight. Marcus Rashford was wasteful in that game; any chances England get against this even higher calibre of opposition simply have to be taken.

13 October 2018 3:02 PM GMT

England desperately need some points if they are to avoid being relegated to the second tier of the UEFA Nations League while Spain are leading the way having won both of their matches to date. They beat England 1-2, and Croatia 6-0, meaning a victory here would guarantee them top spot. England are only second-bottom of the group on goal difference.

13 October 2018 3:01 PM GMT

This should be an excellent watch, with two good sides involved, although it will be a significant challenge for England to get anything from the game.

13 October 2018 2:39 PM GMT

Hello and welcome to this live coverage of Spain against England with me, Matt Addison
