The Bundesliga is back in action at the home of FC Augsburg who welcome Europa League pursuing Wolfsburg as both sides looks to hit the ground running.

It will almost be a year to the day since Die Wölfe’s dismantled a fragile Augsburg side 8-1 to secure a Europa League spot having miraculously rebounded from the cusp of relegation the season before.

Augsburg will be welcoming new manager, and former Bayer Leverkusen man, Heiko Herrlich to the dugout for the first time who will look to lead his new side away from looming relegation.

Form

The home side, who sit brawling for survival at the bottom of the Bundesliga, are winless in their last six league fixtures conceding 13 goals in the process.

Having fought to the end for a point earlier in the season at the Volkswagen Arena, Augsburg will be hoping to use their home turf as an advantage.

Wolfsburg have won just twice in their last five Bundesliga fixtures and are unbeaten in six league games. The Wolves have scored an average of two goals a game which has put them in good stead as they look to cement a European place.

Three red cards have been brandished in the last five meetings; A fixture that is sends North and South to war. A feisty affair with a knockout blow. Bragging rights on the line.
