League leaders Real Madrid will look to extend their lead at the top to four points when they face Getafe at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Los Blancos' come into the game off the back of five consecutive wins since the restart, scoring on 11 occasions, and conceding just twice.

Such form has seen them overtake Barcelona at the top of La Liga. The Catalan giants, who have won the La Liga in four of the previous five seasons, have won just one of their previous four fixtures (W1, D3), playing one game more than Madrid.

The visitors, Getafe, have impressed since their return to the top flight in 2017, with head coach Jose Bordalas guiding them to an 8th and 5th placed finish.

This season, Getafe sit in sixth place with six games to go, with their form since the restart seeing them pick up six points out of a possible 15 (W1, D3, L1).

A win for the home side would see them overtake fifth-placed Villareal, just two points behind Sevilla, who sit in fourth.

 Previous meeting

The last time these sides met, it was Madrid that ran out as comfortable winners.

Despite a bright start for the home side, where Mauro Arambarri forced Thibaut Courtois into an acrobatic save, a disastrous own goal by goalkeeper David Soria gave the visitors the lead just past the half-hour mark.

Madrid doubled their lead in the second-half when Raphel Varane headed home a Toni Kross free-kick, with Luka Modric scoring a third in stoppage time to confirm the victory.

The win for the away side extended their unbeaten run against Getafe to 12 games in the league, with their last loss coming in 2012.

Team news

Both teams have limited injury problems going into the fixture.

Madrid will be without defender Nacho Fernandez through injury, with Eden Hazard missing out on a place in the squad as a result of previous ankle problems.

However, their squad has been given a boost, with Modric and Ferland Mendy coming back after suspension saw them miss the match against Espanyol.

The home side has just one injury doubt, with Uruguayan centre-back Erick Cabaco a likely absentee.
