That's all from us!

That's all from us! I've been Anthony Scott and thank you for joining us as we watched Bernardo Silva and Gabriel Jesus put Manchester City on course for the quarter finals of the Champions League.

22:53a year ago

Advantage City

That's 19 wins in a row now for Manchester City, who dominated from the first whistle in this Champions League Last 16 tie.

They would perhaps be disappointed that it's only two, but ultimately it was a straight-forward victory for Pep Guardiola's side.

And that's the final action from Budapest as Manchester City run out 2-0 winners against Borussia Monchengladbach.

22:17a year ago

Final pass let down

59 | Zakaria beats Rodri in a race, but his ball through to an unmarked Plea has too much weight on it and Ederson gathers. Better from the Bundesliga side, but they are still yet to muster a shot
22:11a year ago

Missed chance

54 | A sloppy pass from Bensebaini sets Jesus through on goal, but with just Sommer to beat he takes too long and allows Elvedi to recover to make a great block
22:09a year ago

Encouragement for Gladbach

51 | The Bundesliga side have already shown more intent going forwards in the second half than they did for the entire first. Stindl searches for Plea with a through ball, but Ederson is out well to clear

Reaction: Goal

Here's the only goal of the tie so far - what a ball in from Cancelo!

21:48a year ago

Sublime City

Bernardo Silva's header is the difference, but it's been all too easy for Pep Guardiola's side. Monchengladbach have a lot to improve on if they are to cause the Premier League side any problems.
21:47a year ago

That's it for the first half in Budapest, and whilst it's only 1-0 it's a comfortable lead for Man. City, with Ederson a mere spectator for the first half here.
21:46a year ago

Foden off target

45 | Jesus finds Foden on the right hand side. He cuts in onto his left foot but his strike is high and wide of the target

29 | BERNARDO SILVA gives Manchester City the lead. 0-1
21:29a year ago

VAR check..

28 | Sterling breaks past Bensebaini, but is then tripped by the full back inside the area. No penalty is given, and after a VAR check shows that he managed to get a toe on the ball as he made the challenge, play continues
21:24a year ago

23 | Bernardo Silva finds room on the byline down the left, he fizzes the ball in but Ginter is there to clear under pressure from Jesus
21:19a year ago

Foals threaten

18 | Walker denies the Germans. Lainer is onside as he whips a low cross in towards Plea but the English international lunges across to clear

Here come the teams!

Kick off moments away in Hungary
20:36a year ago

Guardiola: "Our principles won't change."

Man. City boss Pep Guardiola: "It’s the same process, think about the Borussia game, then West Ham, then Wolves, then Manchester United. This is what we are going to do. One step at a time, one game at a time.

“After, if we deserve it, we will win and then play the second leg and if we are good enough we are through. No more expectations than that.

"We focus no more than for any other game.”

20:33a year ago

Rose: "We need passion, courage and willingness to suffer"

Gladbach boss Marco Rose: "I don’t think that I need to motivate the lads in any way. They’ve earned this evening.

"I hope that the players reflect again on what they have already achieved in the group stage and that they approach this game with passion and courage, but also a willingness to suffer.

"We will try to always make inroads going forward. If my team plays to the best of their ability tomorrow then a good result is absolutely possible."

Don't underestimate the Foals...

Mönchengladbach's Champions League run this season shouldn't go unnoticed. The German underdogs qualified from this year's 'group of death' including Real Madrid, Inter Milan and Shaktar Donesk. Big wins over the likes of Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund domestically should remind City they're just as capable of providing a shock.
20:26a year ago

Blues in great form

What else can be said about Manchester City's magnificent winning run? Since defeat at Spurs in November, City are unbeaten in 25 games in all competitions and are on a 18 game winning run.
20:26a year ago

This will be the 7th meeting between City and Borussia.

In recent times, the sides have met in the group stage of the Champions League twice - in 2015 and 2016.

In those four meetings, City have been dominant, winning three times and drawing once with an aggregate score of 11-4 - with Sergio Aguero scoring a hat-trick the last time the sides met at the Etihad Stadium.

20:24a year ago

Why Hungary?

The tie was meant to take place at Borussia Park - the home of Monchengladbach - however strict COVID-19 travel restrictions in the country have meant the tie has to take place at Puskas Arena, Hungary.
