Advantage City

That's 19 wins in a row now for Manchester City, who dominated from the first whistle in this Champions League Last 16 tie.

They would perhaps be disappointed that it's only two, but ultimately it was a straight-forward victory for Pep Guardiola's side.

Reaction: Goal

Here's the only goal of the tie so far - what a ball in from Cancelo!

Sublime City

Bernardo Silva's header is the difference, but it's been all too easy for Pep Guardiola's side. Monchengladbach have a lot to improve on if they are to cause the Premier League side any problems.

HALF TIME

Here come the teams!

Kick off moments away in Hungary

Guardiola: "Our principles won't change."

Man. City boss Pep Guardiola: "It’s the same process, think about the Borussia game, then West Ham, then Wolves, then Manchester United. This is what we are going to do. One step at a time, one game at a time.

“After, if we deserve it, we will win and then play the second leg and if we are good enough we are through. No more expectations than that.

"We focus no more than for any other game.”

Rose: "We need passion, courage and willingness to suffer"

Gladbach boss Marco Rose: "I don’t think that I need to motivate the lads in any way. They’ve earned this evening.

"I hope that the players reflect again on what they have already achieved in the group stage and that they approach this game with passion and courage, but also a willingness to suffer.

"We will try to always make inroads going forward. If my team plays to the best of their ability tomorrow then a good result is absolutely possible."

Don't underestimate the Foals...

Mönchengladbach's Champions League run this season shouldn't go unnoticed. The German underdogs qualified from this year's 'group of death' including Real Madrid, Inter Milan and Shaktar Donesk. Big wins over the likes of Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund domestically should remind City they're just as capable of providing a shock.

Blues in great form

What else can be said about Manchester City's magnificent winning run? Since defeat at Spurs in November, City are unbeaten in 25 games in all competitions and are on a 18 game winning run.

Head-to-Head

This will be the 7th meeting between City and Borussia.

In recent times, the sides have met in the group stage of the Champions League twice - in 2015 and 2016.

In those four meetings, City have been dominant, winning three times and drawing once with an aggregate score of 11-4 - with Sergio Aguero scoring a hat-trick the last time the sides met at the Etihad Stadium.

Why Hungary?

The tie was meant to take place at Borussia Park - the home of Monchengladbach - however strict COVID-19 travel restrictions in the country have meant the tie has to take place at Puskas Arena, Hungary.
