When thinking of world-class football venues across the world, there is certainly no shortage of options: the Santiago Bernabeu,, Old Trafford, Camp Nou,  the Allianz Arena - and the list simply goes on and on from there.

But there is one stadium  which does stand out from the rest, through its storied history, iconic architecture and legacy as home for so many greats: that stadium is situated in Milan, Italy, and it is called San Siro.

It also just so happens to be the venue for Chelsea's fourth group stage game in the Champions League this season, as they travel to the continent on Tuesday evening to face European royalty in the form of AC Milan.

The two teams are less than a week on from their meeting at Stamford Bridge, when Graham Potter's side blew their opposition away, coming out surprisingly comfortable 3-0 winners thanks to a Player of the Match performance from Reece James.

Stefano Pioli's team did not let that loss affect them though, as they beat Juventus 2-0 at the weekend, meaning that both clubs are in good form heading into what could prove a decisive match on the fourth group stage matchday.

Team News

AC Milan

It is no secret that the Serie A champions are currently struggling with a whole swathe of injuries, with a mixture of long-term absences interspersed with some shorter term problems causing selection headaches.

First-choice goalkeeper Mike Maignan has been out with a calf injury since the middle of September, meaning backup 'keeper Ciprian Tatarusanu has had to fill in for almost a month, with mixed results.

Meanwhile, striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic remains unavailable after knee surgery earlier this year, with centre back Simon Kjaer and winger Junior Messias both out due to muscular problems sustained in recent weeks.

Chelsea

The Blues have not had quite as many injuries to contend with as their Italian opposition, but they have had a couple of players out of the team for an extended period of time as of late, including Edouard Mendy.

Questions had started to arise anyway about whether Kepa Arrizabalaga might deserve another chance, and the Spaniard has been filling in competently enough, so even if the Senegalese international is back from the treatment table, he is not a guaranteed starter.

Two players that will definitely not feature are Frenchmen N'Golo Kante and Wesley Fofana - the latter due to an injury he picked up during the game between these two teams last Wednesday, as he left the pitch in tears.

Likely Lineups

AC Milan

Tatarusanu; Dest, Kalulu, Tomori, Hernandez; Tonali, Bennacer, Pobega; Diaz, Leao; Giroud

Chelsea

Kepa; Chalobah, Silva, Koulibaly; James, Jorginho, Kovacic, Chilwell; Mount, Aubameyang, Sterling

Key Players

AC Milan - Rafael Leao

At just 22 years of age, Rafael Leao won Serie A's Overall MVP award last season, for his part in AC Milan's first domestic league triumph in over a decade, as he got a combined 21 goals and assists across the course of the season.

Those who were not sure if such form could be replicated again have been proven wrong very quickly indeed, with the Portuguese international already notching four goals and four assists in the league.

Add to that the fact he has a further three assists in three Champions League games, as well his blistering pace which he showed in west London, and it is not hard to see why he is the most exciting player to look out for among the hosts' squad.

Chelsea - Reece James

A goal or an assist just over every two games would be a decent return for most attackers, especially in competitions as difficult as the Premier League and the Champions League, likely putting them in the mid-range for their position.

But for a right back, as Reece James is, it is hugely impressive - and what makes the 22-year-old stand out even more is the fact that he contributes so much going forwards, but puts in an equally important amount defensively too.

The statistics speak for themselves: 20 tackles, 104 pressures, 18 blocks, and the list goes on, with all the numbers showing just why the England international is rated quite so highly by almost everybody who has seen him play.
