Les Bleus have sealed their passage into the knockout stages of the 2022 World Cup after beating Denmark 2-1 at Stadium 974.

Mbappe's double came either side of an Andreas Christensen equaliser, with the former netting the winner just four minutes from time after a scintillating performance.

The result leaves France through ahead of taking on Tunisia, with Denmark needing to win against Australia to qualify.

Here's how each player fared today:

  • France

Hugo Lloris – 7

Was prone to playing his side into trouble when he had the ball at his feet. Had to make some smart stops but a relatively comfortable game. Had no chance for the goal.

Jules Kounde – 7

Got into good attacking areas and was not troubled by Damsgaard defensively, despite playing out of position. Late tackle on Nelsson could have warranted more than a yellow card.

Raphael Varane – 7

Early goalbound header was cleared before it could reach the goal. Imperious and reliable, will be key to France's potential success again.

Dayot Upamecano - 7

Quick to snuff out danger from Cornelius in the first half, found life slightly more difficult as Braithwaite came on but still a good performance.

Theo Hernandez - 8

Didn’t quite get the same attacking joy as the Australia game but grew into it and produced a moment of magic as he surged forward and linked up brilliantly with Mbappe for the opener.

Adrien Rabiot – 7

Did what he was there for but switched off at times defensively, with his mistake leading to the corner from which the goal came. Audacious late acrobatic effort would have been a goal of the tournament contender, had it not gone over the bar.

Aurelien Tchouameni - 7

Authoritative and much more involved in the early stages of the game than against Australia. Kept the game moving and had a wonderful chance to score from a corner but his header was blocked by an unaware Joakim Maehle. Efficiency personified.

Ousmane Dembele - 8

Threat again on the right and popped up all over the pitch with great crosses and constant twisting and turning of the defenders. Brilliant to see him producing on the biggest stage after heaps of injury fears over the years.

Antoine Griezmann - 7

Fed wide players well in transition but had a quiet first half. Should have had the opener as he went through on goal but fired over. Wonderful cross for Mbappe’s second was more like what he is in the team for.

Kylian Mbappe - 9

Not always in the game in the first half, but when he was, he had Denmark seriously worried. Missed a golden chance as his rushed shot from Dembele's cut-back was blazed over.

Got his goal on the hour mark with a lovely move and secured the win late on with some trademark brilliant movement to force the ball home at the back post. His team's biggest threat yet again and looks to be in unplayable form.

Olivier Giroud - 6

Tough task against three big centre backs. Best chance with a header went wide after he’d had a run at. Struggled to impact proceedings.

Substitutes

Marcus Thuram (for Giroud 62’) – 7

Quicker than Giroud and better complimented Mbappe and the way France wanted to play.

Ibrahima Konate (for Varane 75’) – 6

Deschamps identified the Danes injection of pace from the bench and combatted it by bringing on possibly one of the quickest centre halves at the World Cup.

Kingsley Coman (for Dembele 75’) – 6

Like for like replacement that ran at tired Denmark legs with intent.

Youssof Fofana (for Griezmann 90+2’) - n/a

  • Denmark

Kasper Schmeichel – 6

Didn't do himself justice with balls into the box, especially for the winner. Made some routine saves otherwise.

Joachim Andersen - 5

Misplaced passes and fouls in the first half meant it wasn't his finest game. Mbappe made it tough for him throughout. Grabbed an assist for his flick on from corner.

Victor Nelsson – 6

Solid in the air and sprayed some great passes. Moment of near disaster as he turned off balance to allow Griezmann a 1v1 chance.

Andreas Christensen – 6

Booked for a tug on Mbappe as he raced past. Great headed finish on his 60th cap after judging the bounce of the ball perfectly to equalise.

Rasmus Kristensen – 6

Impressive going forward but isolated Andersen numerous times defensively. Needs to maintain his composure against the top teams.

Christian Eriksen - 6

Struggled to get into the game and an effort that went well wide from far out summed his first half up. Set pieces improved as the game went on and he grew into it as France's midfield tired.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg - 5

Quiet showing when his team needed his grit and determination the most. Bypassed too often in the middle.

Joakim Maehle – 6

Dembele gave him a tough time, but he got forward better in the second half in good spaces. Great block from Tchouameni’s goal bound header, even if he wasn’t aware of it.

Jesper Lindstrom – 7

Tidy play throughout but could never quite get past Hernandez in a one on one. Put in great deliveries and got more joy in the channels as the game progressed. Good chance in the box saw his shot go straight at Lloris. His team's brightest performer overall.

Andreas Cornelius – 5

Best chance came from a break as he fizzed a shot past Lloris’ left hand post, to no avail. Late tackle put in on Giroud picked up a booking and he was duly taken off at half time to change his side's fortunes. Must improve.

Mikkel Damsgaard - 5

Another lacklustre showing from a Dane, the Brentford man had little impact on his team going forward at all.

Substitutes

Martin Braithwaite (for Cornelius 45’) – 7

Ran the channels well and offered a bigger threat than Cornelius. Snapshot with ten minutes to go went a whisper wide of Lloris' post.

Kasper Dolberg (for Damsgaard 73’) – 6

His appearance meant a change in formation which served his side really well. Could have had an assist for Braithwaite's chance.

Christian Norgaard (for Lindstrom 85’) – n/a

Alexander Bah (for Christensen 90+2’) - n/a
