Antonio Conte has named one of his last ever squads as Italy boss as this summer's European Championships in France edge closer. The incoming Chelsea boss has named a 28 man provisional squad who will take part in a series of training sessions over the next week.

The squad will have two opportunities to stake their claim for a starting berth in the Azzurri's group E opener with pre-tournament darkhorses Belgium in friendlies with Scotland and Finland both on home soil.

Mainstay's during the qualifying stage in Gianluigi Buffon, Andrea Barzagli, Giorgio Chiellini, Simone Zaza, Mattia de Sciglio, Giacomo Bonaventura and Ricardo Montolivo are all missing from the squad due to their involvement in the Coppa Italia final. Gianluigi Donnarumma of Milan is in with an outside chance of selection in the final team also as Mattia Perin also won't be recovered in time to be called.

In the striker department, pocket rocket Sebastian Giovinco hasn't recieved a call despite being MLS MVP last season and being in fine form this season. Leonardo Pavoletti has been rewarded for a stellar season with an inclusion while it is somewhat surprising that Eder gets a call having often been criticised for not turning up when representing his naturalised nation.
