After a short spell with 1. FC Heidenheim, Daniel Frahn is on the move again. This time he is off to Chemnitzer FC in the 3. Liga, in a bid to regain form and game time. He signed a contract through to 2019, and it is valid for both the 2. Bundesliga and third tier.

Frahn hoping to return to scoring form

His half-season with Heidenheim yielded little; one start and ten appearances resulted in just a solitary goal, albeit against RB Leipizig - his former club. Despite his lack of goals in the second division, his one season in the 3. Liga saw him net 19 times and link up with the all-time record goalscorer in the division, Anton Fink. The 28-year-old will now head off to Belek to join up with his new team-mates.

In his two long-term stints with SV Babelsberg 03 and Leipzig, Frahn averaged well over a goal every other game. His hopes will be to now replicate that, given that the Heidenheim move worked out for neither party. "The change came at the request of the player, Heidenheim has complied with the release, as the performances have not met expectations so far this season," said Managing Director, Holger Sanwald.

A late promotion push?

Heidenheim will now go out in search of another striker, while Chemnitz are hoping this can push them towards promotion. Fink has already scored 10 times this season, and a strike partner of Frahn's quality could propel them out of their mid-table and into contention for a top three finish. Given the unpredictable nature of the division, it is wholly possible that they coudl do just that.

Frahn flies out on Wednesday to Turkey and looks likely to miss their game against SV Darmstadt 98 later that day, though he wil be present to take on VfL Wolfsburg back in Chemnitz - the team he scored a hat-trick against in the DFB-Pokal a few years ago.
