1. FC Köln will miss out on Sehrou Guirassy after the club confirmed that the player had failed a medical.

The Lille forward was expected to join the Bundesliga club in a €6 million deal, but after Köln confirmed the news via social media, that deal can no longer take place.

It is unknown as to why Guirassy had failed the medical, although the club did confirm that the injury is recoverable.

In need of another goalscorer...

The 20-year-old spent last season on loan to Ligue 2 side AJ Auxerre where he scored eight league goals in 16 matches for the French team.

Guirassy also played at the Toulon Tournament during summer, where he would have arguably gone on to win player of the tournament should France have beaten England in the final.

The youngster also spent time on loan at Stade Laval in the France Second Division, where he scored six goals during the 2014/15 season.

Guirassy made his debut with the France U19 side in November 2014, and he had since go on to score six goals in 11 games, before being called up to the France U20 team, where he has scored four in nine.

Although Köln brought in Artjoms Rudnevs on a free transfer, Coach Peter Stöger is still interested in adding another forward to take some of the burden off Anthony Modeste, who scored 15 Bundesliga goals in 34 appearances last season, helping Köln to ninth.

Köln in search for further additions

Following the departures of Yannick Gerhardt and Kevin Vogt, the club are still looking at bringing in a centre midfielder, despite the arrival of Marco Höger from Schalke 04.

Bartosz Kapustka is just one name that has been linked with a move to Köln after an impressive Euro 2016 campaign with Poland – However, sporting director Jörg Schmadtke told Kicker.de that the club aren’t chasing the 19-year-old.
