On Saturday afternoon, matchday five in the Bundesliga sees Borussia Monchengladbach host struggling FC Ingolstadt 04 at the Borussia-Park Stadion, looking for a third successive home victory.

Hosts formidable at home

The Foals have made a real mixed start to the season but at home so far they have been formidable and they will see this match as a huge opportunity to move up the table as they sit in eighth after four games.

André Schubert's side made a good start to the season winning 2-1 at home to Bayer 04 Leverkusen before losing 3-1 away against SC Freiburg. Last weekend the hosts then won 4-1 against struggling SV Werder Bremen before drawing 1-1 away against RB Leipzig in midweek to show how inconsistent they can be away from their home fortress.

Visitor's in need of a positive result

On the other hand, it has been a disastrous start to the season for Markus Kauczinski's side as they have lost three and drawn one of their opening four games.

Die Schanzer started the season with a 1-1 draw away to Hamburger SV before three defeats in a row to Hertha BSC, Bayern Munich and Eintracht Frankfurt, which means they sit 15th in the league table with real improvement needed.

Foals failed to win either meeting last season

The visitors though will take real heart from the fact that they didn't lose any of the two games the sides played last season. They first managed to get a 0-0 draw at the Borussia-Park Stadion before winning at home back in April 1-0 with the winner being scored by Moritz Hartmann in the 87th minute of the game.

Team News

In terms of injuries ahead of the game, the hosts have a few players who might miss the game. Winger Patrick Herrmann is a doubt for the game after he injured his hamstring two weeks ago against SC Freiburg.

Josip Drmic, who is in rehabilitation training, centre-back's Mamadou Doucoure and Alvaro Dominguez are all doubtful for the game with injury so they will have to be assessed before the game to see if they can play any part.

The visitors are at full health going into the game and will be looking to show some fight during this game. They will be looking to new signings Robert Leipertz and Sonny Kittel to help them get on the board in terms of getting their first win of the season.
