Bayern Munich vs PSV Eindhoven Preview: Ancelotti's men looking to bring three-game winless run to an end

Bayern Munich host PSV Eindhoven at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday evening, on Matchday three in Group D in the UEFA Champions League looking to break a three-game winless streak in all competitions.

Hosts on a three-game winless run

Carlo Ancelotti's men could only claim a point at the weekend in the Bundesliga against Eintracht Frankfurt despite playing against ten men and leading twice in the game.

They also suffered disappointment in their last Champions League encounter against Atletico Madrid away from home when they fell to a 1-0 defeat.

Therefore these back to back games against PSV are every important for the German champions as they look to get back on track and take a giant step to qualifying for the knockout stages.

Visitor's also winless in last three games

Interestingly, PSV are also on a run of three games without a win and they will find it hard on Wednesday evening to turn that run around. Three consecutive draws in all competitions have put a halt to Phillip Cocu's sides progress as they go into this game with one point from their opening two games in the group.

They lost 1-0 at home to Atletico in their first game before drawing 2-2 in their last game away to FC Rostov which means they need to get some points on the board as soon as possible or they might have to settle for a UEFA Europa League place.

Coming into the game, PSV drew 1-1 at the weekend also against Heracles and will want to get out of the run of all of these draws.

The head-to-head record of both teams though don't hold good reading for the Dutch side as in six meetings, Bayern have won four while PSV have only one won in the 1999/2000 edition of the Champions League.

In terms of injuries for the game, Ancelotti revealed some good news in his pre-match press conference. Arturo Vidal, Javi Martinez, Juan Bernat and Douglas Costa are all fit for the game and are likely to be in the squad for the game.

It means that Franck Ribéry is the only absentee for the game due to injury. Ancelotti though could make changes to his team in order to finally get a win for the first time in four games.

On the other hand, Cocu will be without some key players due to injury. Jorrit Hendrix, Jurgen Locadia and Luuk Koopmans will all miss the game due to injuries which gives the manager some selection headaches for the game as they try and get a positive result.
