Udinese's former Italy striker Antonio Di Natale has confirmed that he will leave the club upon the expiry of his contract at the end of this season.

Di Natale, 37, almost retired at the end of the 2013/14 season but was convinced to continue playing, and has refused to comment on speculation linking him with a move to the United States.

“I will not renew my contract in June,” Di Natale told Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport. “I will leave Udine.”

If Di Natale does move abroad, it will be the first time he has played outside of Italy since beginning his career with Empoli in 1996. Since then, he joined Udinese in 2004 and has become synonymous with the club, scoring 219 goals in 405 games in all competitions and winning Italian footballer of the year in 2010.

MLS side New York Red Bulls are one of the clubs linked with the forward, but NASL outfit New York Cosmos are also rumoured to have offered him a two-year deal worth a reported £6million.
