One of the last legends of the Italian football in the last 30 years is set to extend his career for, at least, another year as AS Roma icon Francesco Totti is set to receive an offer to extend his current deal with the team for another year. Totti's current contract is set to expire at the end of the season and the deal would see him playing for the team until the end of the 2017 campaign.

According to coveted Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport, Totti has already been assured the club he will still be of use for another season. The newspaper believes that an agreement with President James Pallotta will be easily reached but that an official announcement won’t be made until he has returned from injury. The 39-year-old has been sidelined with a thigh injury for most of this season but with this contract extension he will be able to play well past his 40th birthday.

A career full of accolades

Totti hasn't had much of an impact this season for Roma as he's made only three Serie A appeareances but there's no question he's a very important item for the dressing room and he's also one of the leaders of the team off the field. He has had a great career and has notched over 700 appeareances, 300 goals and 187 assists throughout his career.

The 39-year-old forward has spent his entire career at Roma and his tenure with the team has been very successful. Totti has won a Serie A title, two Coppa Italia titles, and two Supercoppa Italiana titles. He is the top goalscorer and the most capped player in the club's history and he also holds the record for the youngest club's captain in the history of Serie A.

It will be a huge joy to all Serie A fans to watch Totti for another year as he's one of the league's best player in recent memory.
