Napoli are right in the thick of things in terms of the title race for the Serie A crown and are reportedly looking towards adding Porto midfielder Hector Herrera to help their squad.

Solid midfielder for Porto

Herrera has been a key part of Porto's squad this season and Napoli are reportedly hoping that he can do same for their squad if he comes to Naples. He has scored four goals and has tallied two assists for Porto this season. His role of helping out on the defensive side for Porto should not go unnoticed as he helps out centerally for the Portuguese side.

Porto are currently 2nd in the Primeria Liga with 37 points are tied on points with rival Benfica. They are currently four points off the leaders Sporting Lisbon

Napoli are reportedly set on acquiring Herrera for a fee of 25M Euros and are reportedly already in talks with Porto over his potential transfer.

More Midfield Depth

Napoli will be looking to add Herrera as they may lose one of their own this transfer window.

Lorenzo Insinge could be on his way to Arsenal or PSG as reports have it but no offical reports have came out from either of those teams. But still the threat of Napoli losing a midfielder could see a bigger push for them to bring in Herrera.

Right now Napoli are stacked with midfielders as the likes of Allan, Marek Hamsik, and Jorginho lead the pack as of now. But they certainly have capable backups as well so it will be a challenge for Herrera to break into the squad. He will get playing time but not as much as he saw in Porto.

Napoli are right there with Inter Milan at the top of Serie A and they have a good enough starting XI to win the whole thing but they need depth as of now. Herrera will offer a good defense midfield role for Napoli as they look to keep up the title challenge.
