The Bianconeri are always on their toes when it comes to recognizing and signing young talent. This time they are dipping into the Brazilian youth system for a young defender.

Planning Ahead

Rogerio, 17, is a Brazilian under-17 prospect who turns 18 in January and is currently with Sport Club Internacional. He is already being hailed as the next big Brazilian defender.

The left-back is being targeted by Juventus in a move which would give the team depth at the position for years to come. If the transfer does happen to go through, it would be unlikely that the young Brazilian sees first team action and would most likely serve as a relief player or be loaned out to gain experience.

Juventus’ left-back situation

As it now stands Juventus currently has two left-backs on the roster in Patrice Evra and Alex Sandro.

Evra, 34, is the starter with Sandro usually serving as his relief. However with Evra not getting any younger, one could only wonder how much longer he will play or be a part of this Juventus team.

Sandro, 24, joined Juventus as a summer transfer from Portuguese side FC Porto and has been quite the addition for the club. Once Evra’s time with the club is over he is no doubt in line to take his spot in the line-up.

If Rogerio is signed it would be a great signing for the Turin club. Whether they keep him with the team or loan him out it would be worth it for the club.

Success with youth

The Bianconeri has been a successful club for years now and much of that success is from their ability of purchasing young players.

Over the past few seasons they’ve brought in the likes of Paulo Dybala who is currently the teams leading scorer, Alvaro Morata, Paul Pogba and dating back to 2001 when they signed Gianluigi Buffon.

These are just a few of the many great young players the club has been able to acquire and have all had a positive impact of some sort.
