Inter Milan are said to be planning summer mercato moves involving Juan Mata, Roman Neustadter and Jeffrey Bruma in today's editions of Tuttsport and Corriere dello Sport.
The report states that Miranda - who arrived from Atletico Madrid last summer and been nothing short of a rock at the back for the Champions League chasing Nerazzurri - will be used as a bargaining tool in bringing Juan Mata to the San Siro most likely in a straight swap deal.
A mass clear out at Old Trafford is very much plausible with Louis van Gaal's tenure as boss looking likely to end in the summer. It is widely reported that Jose Mourinho, one time coach of Inter will take his place and will want to make his mark on the side. United have endured yet another poor season - having bowed out in the Champions League group stages and then the Europa League round of 16 - despite still being in contention for the Champions League.
United are also said to be targetting Miranda's teammates Samir Handanovic who will surely be used as a replacement should David De Gea depart aswell as Jeison Murillo, another last summer arrival in Milan.
Replacements planned should Miranda or Murillo go
Corriere dello Sport say Inter have lined up Schalke's Roman Neustadter to come in as a replacement albeit not being a central defender. Should Roberto Mancini fail to capture the German, PSV Eindhoven's Jeffrey Bruma, a central defender is the back-up option.
The publication say Inter might be be best aiming for the latter, rated at just shy of €10 million as Neustadter is garnering interest from Tottenham and Arsenal in particular with his contract expiring in a matter of months. However, there is no reason that they won't move for both with expected sales of Stevan Jovetic amongst others set to fund their big spend.
Bruma has been an ever present feature in the Dutch sides defence as the club look to retain their Eredivisie title while Neustadter has featured similarly for a Schalke side on course for Champions League football.
