Juventus will begin the defence of their Scudetto crown for the sixth successive campaign, as the Italian champions entertain Fiorentina at the Juventus Stadium on the opening weekend of 2016/17 Serie A season.

Max Allegri's side will face Viola in Turin, when the season commences on 21 August.

On the opening day also, newly-promoted Pescara face last year's runners-up Napoli at Stadio Adriatico, Udinese travel to A.S. Roma to face Luciano Spalletti's men at Stadio Olimpico, whilst there are also tough first assignments for the other two new boys Crotone and Cagliari, with trips to Bologna and Genoa respectively.

Allegri's men face stern opening test

In the pick of the opening fixtures, Juventus and Fiorentina will face off, but looking further ahead, The Old Lady face a tricky start with trips to Lazio and Inter Milan in the opening weeks.

Juve will travel to Olimpico Grande for the Turin derby two weeks before Christmas on December 11, before Torino make the trip across the city for the return in early May. They square off with Napoli in late October.

Promoted sides on the road

Pescara on paper, face the toughest test of the three promoted sides - despite home advantage - taking on Napoli, without the now departed Gianluca Lapadula, since his move to Milan. Crotone and Cagliari are both on their travels, with last season's Serie B winners rolling up to Stadio Luigi Ferraris to face Genoa. They will face Juventus on September 21.

Davide Nicola's Crotone gained promotion in the play-offs last term and play three of the five opening games in away from Calabria. The promoted trio face off first on October 2, as Cagliari host Crotone. The Serie B champions visit Pescara on December 4, before Pescara then travel to Crotone themselves the weekend after.

Chievo face daunting start

Chievo face by far the toughest start to the campaign. After facing Inter at home first up, Rolando Maran's charges then travel to Florence and Fiorentina, then return home to face Lazio, before being on their travels once more to Udine. Sassuolo provide light relief the week after, before a trip to Stadio San Paolo seven days later.

Elsewhere, the first derby of the campaign takes place on October 23, where Sampdoria host Genoa in the Della Lanterna. The sides meet again on March 12.

The first Milan derby of the season is played on November 20.
