The relationship between Roberto Mancini and Inter executives shall be at boiling point. The trainer profile should be close to exit within 48 hours.

A meeting between President Eric Thohir and the Italian in Portland has not carried good fruits, instead it is more likely a farewell than to remain at Inter.

Mancini is more aware now that his ideas do not correspond with the new Chinese owners, nor were they agreed on a contract renewal. The ice-front has started to worry the Nerazzurri fans, over the pre-season can be destroyed.

The possibilites

Several coaching profiles have been linked towards the Inter job in form of Frank De Boer, Andre Villas-Boas, Fabio Capello, Cesare Prandelli, Marco Bielsa, Walter Zenga and Diego Simone. But it’s the Brazilian Leonardo who seems to be closest due to reports from Gazzetta Dello Sport.

Part of the reason that he is preferred over other candidates is that the 46-year-old should be willing to sign a one-year contract. Then everything will be possible for Diego Simone to take over Inter.

Inter + "El Cholo" = True?

Regarding "El Cholo", in the past he has said “He wants to return to Inter one day” and that he "speaks with Javier Zanetti and he is not afraid to be open about it." This also seems to be a a dream for the Chinese board that the Argentine will take over the ship. But it is in 2017 it is most realistic to reach agreement.

Not reaching the ambitions

Mancini has now spent six years over two periods of being coach at Inter. In the first period he made Inter a dominant team in Italy, where he took two Coppa Italia - one Supercoppa Italiana- and three Scudetto-titles. The second period has not been as successful where Inter have missed their ambitions to play Champions League football. However, he managed to lead Inter to a 4th place with 67 points, which is the Milan club's best league position since the 2011 season.
