Sampdoria have completed their 10th mercato signing in Karol Linetty from Lech Poznan on a five-year-deal for a fee of €3 million.

The 21-year-old first broke news this morning via his official instagram account captioning a photo of him holding the blucerchiati's jersey as follows, "It's a new beginning in my life, Thanks for everything, Lech Poznan."

Sampdoria gave official confirmation of the Polish youngsters arrival mid-afternoon and later said he would be joining in tonights training session too.

Linetty is primarily a central midfielder but can be deployed in a defensive midfield role also. Debuting in 2012 as a teen, Linetty racked up over a century of appearances for one of Poland's most prestigious sides picking up a league title and two Polish cups in the process.

Linetty targetting starting berth

The Polish international met the press soon after his official unveiling and admitted to thinking Sampdoria is "the best" for him. He also revealed his targets, with the primary objective being "to secure a place in the starting line-up."

He then described himself as a player and who he looked up to, "I am a midfielder put I can push forward and join the attack. When I was younger, my favourite players were Zidane and Henry."

He concluded saying he must "look at other midfielders [in the squad] because I want to improve more in my role."

The midfielder's first chance to impress could come tomorrow as Sampdoria play fellow Serie A outfit Chievo in one of their final pre-season friendlies. If he doesn't feature tomorrow his next chance arises when they play Barcelona in the Trofeo Jean Gamper. The sides last met in the competition back in 2012 and it was the Italian's who came out on top on that occasion as well as the occasion before in 1997 with a team that included Vincenzo Montella, Jurgen Klinsmann and Juan Sebastian Veron.
