It was blowout wins for FC Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Atletico Madrid this weekend. Let's take a look at what happened in La Liga this week.

Kevin Gamiero's brace helps Sevilla to win

It was the Kevin Gamiero show as Sevilla got back into European contention with a 2-1 win over Malaga. It was a physical match as it saw both teams end with 10 men thanks to Iborra and Boka being sent off in the second half. It was Gamiero's goal on the counterattack which turned out to be the winning goal as he scored two goals in the first half. Malaga got a goal back thanks to Charles but couldn't get themselves another goal to draw the game.

Celta Vigo win seven goal thriller

It was seven goals between Celta Vigo and Levante and it was the home team who came out on top in a 4-3 score. It was a quick start to the game for Vigo as they scored the first three goals in this fixture thanks to John Guidetti and Iago Aspas. But Levante battled back to make it 3-2 and then we saw two goals in the final ten minutes, one from each team, and it was a complete cracker of a game.

Villarreal draw with Real Betis

It was a tight affair for both teams as Villarreal drew with Real Betis. It turned out to be a great result for the vistors as they snapped a five game streak without points in La Liga. However, the result turned out to be poor for Villarreal as they had a chance to heighten the gap from 4th place but they only came away with one point.

Real Sociedad and Deportivo draw level

It was a 1-1 affair between Real Sociedad and Deportivo La Coruna as both teams only scored one goal each that night. La Coruna took the lead thanks to Luis Alberto in the 26th minute and that was the score at the half. But Sociedad drew level when Xabi Prieto beat the goalkeeper in the 76th minute.

Valencia and Rayo draw level

Valencia and Rayo Vallecano drew level 2-2. It was a frustrating game for both teams as Valencia were denied a goal by Paco Alcacer by a questionable offside call. Rayo were caught out by Alvaro Negredo's 50 yard effort that tied the game 1-1 after Jozabed gave Rayo the lead to begin with. Alcacer scored a late equalizer after Diego Llorente scored to give Rayo a 2-1 lead. This game was better for Rayo than it was for Valencia.

Real Madrid put five past Sporting Gijon

In the second game of the Zinedine Zidane era, Real Madrid put five goals past their opposition again in a 5-1 win over Sportin Gijon. Both Ronaldo and Karim Benzema added braces before the half and Gareth Bale also got on the scoring sheet. But in the second half, it was despair for Real Madrid as both Bale and Benzema went off injured for Los Blancos.

Atletico stay top of the league with win

It was a comfortable 3-0 win for Atletico Madrid as Antoine Griezmann scored a brace for the La Liga table leaders. The scoring start with Felipe Luis scoring his first goal of the season on a cross from other wingback JuanFran. Then it was two goals by the Frenchmen and that was all she wrote. Atletico stay top of the league but have to stay warry of Barcelona.

Getafe keep winning streak going with big win

Getafe got their 3rd straight win as they came back to beat Espanyol. Espanyol took the lead via Hernan Perez but Pedro Leon equalized quickly after. Then two goals by Pablo Sarabia and Moi Gomez helped Getafe get all three points.

Barcelona run rampant on Athletic Bilbao

For Barcelona, their win was rather easy as they smashed Bilbao 6-0. The game started out on the wrong foot for the vistors as goalkeeper Gorka Iraizoz was sent off and Leo Messi smashed the penalty home. The Argentine and Jordi Alba both left with supposed injuries with the later being announced out with 10 days but Luis Suarez had a hattrick and Neymar added another as Barcelona cruised to victory.

Eibar continue dream season with five goals

It was a dream game for Eibar as they put five past Granada. It took two goals a piece from Borja Baston and Sergi Enrich to get all three points. Eibar now put themselves in European competition as they sit 5th in La Liga as their dream season continues.
