Paco Alcácer scored with five minutes remaining to steal a point from Getafe at the Coliseum. Daniel Parejo opened the scoring before Getafe took the lead with two goals of their own. This draw for Valencia moved them up to seventh in the league table.

Valencia almost got a gift in the opening minute of the match with the hosts giving the ball away cheaply. Paco Alcácer got possession before slipping Rodrigo in behind the Getafe defense. The 25-year-old then played a pass back to Alcácer who hit a weak shot into the arms of Vicente Guaita

Getafe put pressure on Valencia defense

After some possession from the visitors, Getafe created a half-chance in the eighth minute. Pedro León sent in a good cross with his left foot towards the middle of the area. Álvaro Medrán's ensuing header failed to hit the target as it bounced wide of the far post.

On the half hour mark, the home side created their best chance of the first half. León, off of a corner, sent a good ball torwads the middle of the area. Álvaro Vázquez met it with his head, but it bounced on its way to Diego Alves

Goals come flying in the second half

Three minutes after the restart, the visiting side opened the scoring. The 27-year-old Spaniard Parejo stood over a free kick. Parejo has scored a time or two from dead ball situations and delivered yet again. He curled his effort up over the wall and past a diving Vicente Guaita.

Álvaro Medrán almost scored an equalizing goal three minutes later. But his shot sailed wide of the near post. Five minutes later, León had another glorious chance go missing. Pablo Sarabia sent in a low cross which Álvaro Vázquez dummied brilliant. All León had to do was poke his effort behind Alves, but he instead blasted it over the cross bar.

Getafe's pressure paid off a minute before the hour mark. Moi Gómez had his initial blast saved well by Valencia's Brazilian goalkeeper. But the follow up shot, from Medrán somehow squeaked past him to level the match at one.

Eight minutes later, the hosts took the advantage following a Valencia mistake. Aymen Abdennour misjudged the flight of a ball and let it bounce past him. As a result of his error, Stefan Scepovic raced behind him to go one on one with Alves. The second-half substitute poked it with great technique into the back of the net.

With six minutes left to go in the match, Valencia scored to steal a point away. Alvaro Negredo was the main architect of the goal while Alcácer finished the move off in style. Negredo, also a sub, won the ball from Sarabia. The veteran striker proceeded to make his way past Getafe defenders to get inside the area. Then, he played a little chip pass to Alcácer who finished with a well-timed volley.

While Getafe might not have gotten the full three points, there were positives to take away for sure. The capital club will need to continue improve and fight for each point if they want to stay in the top flight.

Coming up

Getafe's next task will be to take a point or more away from Deportivo La Coruna on the road on Saturday night. Valencia, meanwhile, will play hosts to a good Villarreal club.
