Alvaro Negredo could leave Valencia CF this summer as the marksman has told the media that his agents have held talks with both Milan clubs.
Unsuccessful on his return to Spain
After leaving Sevilla in 2013, he joined Manchester City on a four-year deal, but he only spent two being contracted to them and one of those years he was sent out on loan to Valencia. During the year he actually played for City, Negredo scored 23 goals in 48 appearances and earned a Premier League winners medal.
After joining Valencia permanently in the summer of 2015, his current record stands at 72 games played, 18 goals scored and considering how much quality he possesses, it’s a very poor return considering Valencia paid in the region of €27 million to obtain his services. “I had expectations that were never met.” Negredo said on Cadena Ser, as reported by Calciomercato.
With AC Milan president Silvio Berlusconi saying Mario Balotelli will to return to Liverpool, I Rossoneri will have to replace him and with a fee of around €10 million being rumoured, it would be a bargain. They would however face stiff competition from their fierce rivals Inter Milan and a Chinese club, Jiangsu, it may be a case of personal preference for the Spanish striker.
Regarding his future Negredo said; “I want to continue playing in the major leagues, despite interest from Jiangsu I’m not going to China, that’s not my desire.” And regarding direct questions about the reported interest from the Milanese clubs, “Inter and Milan? I know my agents have had meetings with them, but at the moment it’s just rumours.”
For Inter Milan, the signing of Negredo could prove to be vital as there has been rumours circulating that talismanic striker Mauro Icardi could be leaving Inter, with Manchester United as a possible destination and new manager Jose Mourinho is thought to be a big admirer of the Argentinian international.
At the age of 31, Negredo is more than likely past his best, but he could still be useful for any team that invests in him and despite his goal return being poor for Valencia, he has always been a menace any time he played for them.
