Amir Khan has today publicly hit out at Kell Brook, and his promoter, Eddie Hearn for continuing their pursuit of the Bolton-born boxer. But is Khan's narrow minded field of vision, which is set firmly on a bout with Floyd Mayweather Jr., going to damage him instead?

Khan recently fought Chris Algieri, in what was in all honesty, much of a nothing fight in terms of stakes and no belt being on the line. For Khan, many cynics will believe he would have wanted to fight Aglieri to make a statement to Mayweather in terms of 'this is what Pacquiao did to him, look what I can do'.

Kell Brook meanwhile fought Frankie Gavin, in what was an arguably an even more disappointing bout, as there wasn't any resistance nor anything coming back from Gavin as there was from Algieri.

However, the fact remains that out of the two it is Sheffield born-and-bred Brook who holds a World title in the division, Amir Khan doesn't. When you look at fights domestically in Great Britain the first one everyone has been baying for, for some time is Carl Frampton - Scott Quigg for the Irishman's IBF World Super-Bantamweight title.

After that, it would undoubtedly be Khan vs. Brook - a fight which has been bubbling underfoot for some time now - but one, which Khan still seems resolute on turning down. With British boxing on the rise as well, the fight would make an awful lot of money, something, which Khan has played down - citing he made more from fighting just Algieri than Brook has made from his last five fights.

Talking to British radio-station TalkSport, Brook replied when asked of a possible bout with Khan; "Forget Amir Khan you know, I'm world champion, I'm after the fighters what wanna get in and actually fight me. I don’t know what he's actually playing at."

This interview was played back to Amir Khan who was on the line following Brook, his retort was bizarre, and had more than a touch of the pot calling the kettle black. He quipped; "...fighting easy names and fights that you know you're going to win, I think he's just fooling the public really." considering some of the names Khan has fought, you would be forgiven for wondering why on earth he would bring something such as that up, when he himself is guilty of the same crime.

Khan continues to chase his dream-bout of facing up against the undefeated Mayweather saying "This is the closest we have been" to getting it finalised and made official. Mayweather though, has previous for pulling the rug from beneath the Bolton fighters feet, so he should be wary of being let down again.

Regardless of if the fight materialises, Khan remains staunch that he will not fight Brook. Talking to the Daily Star, saying "I know if I got in there with him I would beat him. But why should I give him that opportunity? I'm going to be a c**t about it."

It is bizarre that Khan deems it necessary to shot Brook down, of course he could well possess the tools to be the man to defeat Mayweather - but if he doesn't then what? Then would he fight Brook for a World title?

Or would he then continue fighting who are known, but, are not formidable opponents? It seems Khan will continue to cut off his nose to spite his face, regardless of wherever or not his proposed bout with Mayweather comes off or not. It is a shame, as it will only serve to distance Khan greater from British boxing fans consequently enhancing Brook's viewpoint.
