Floyd Mayweather Jr. has recently confirmed his date of his - supposed - final fight in Las Vegas, at the MGM Grand, which will take place on the 12th of September. The only thing missing now, is for Mayweather to choose and announce his opponent...

With opponents lining themselves up in a not so orderly fashion, it still remains unclear as to whom the challenger on the night will be. Will Mayweather opt for someone he perceives as a lesser risk in the ring, but of greater reward inside of it, or will he genuinely look to make a fight happen with someone who could well give him a run for his 0?

There are countless big-name options for Mayweather to have mulled over, the name who has received the most media attention has been Amir Khan. In regards to Khan's offensive capabilities it would make for a testing fight, but, even Mayweather would have the punch power to KO Khan. Something which Mayweather recently showed he is not afraid to show, when fighting Manny Pacquiao earlier this year in May he was the main aggressor.

In recent days though, Miguel Cotto has had his name firmly thrown into the mix, mainly so by his trainer Freddie Roach. Roach, who in the post-match conference following Cotto's fourth-round-KO of Daniel Geale, said of the proposed rematch between his man and Mayweather; "It’s a tough fight, but I do think Miguel’s big enough and strong enough to beat him...We’d have to fight a perfect fight, but I think we’re very capable of doing that."

With Khan less than impressing against Chris Algieri in his last bout, who is to say Mayweather will now opt to fight Cotto instead? The Khan fight would gain more interest mostly from those in the UK, but, a rematch against Cotto would gain a hell of a lot more interest globally amongst boxing fans.

Over to you Floyd...
