That's all for today, stayed tuned for the match report to follow. I've been Amee Ruszkai and thank you for joining us here at VAVEL to follow the match between Sharapova and Diyas.

However, the win belongs to Sharapova and she will play Vandeweghe in the last eight, who knocked out 2015 French Open finalist Safarova earlier today in straight sets.

Plenty for Diyas to be proud of in that match, with countless encouraging signs for the 21-year-old. More confidence and better execution of certain shots and she can have a great career.

And the Russian takes it! Still hasn't dropped a set at Wimbledon 2015 and is into the quarter-finals, final score 6-4 6-4.

Match point for Sharapova as Diyas only manages to find the net with her shot.

Sharapova holds convincingly, albeit whilst committing her seventh double fault of the match. Diyas now serves to stay in the set, and the match.

A brilliant hold for Diyas as she prevents Sharapova from racing ahead in set number two. 4-4.

Absolutely astonishing return gets Sharapova off to a good start in the game and helps her on her way to two break points, but good serving helps Diyas defend both and take the game to deuce.

Diyas is now looking to end Sharapova's resurgence of three games in a row.

Love service game for Sharapova. She leads 4-3 in this set but it remains on serve.

She breaks. Was almost a double break down moments ago but now Sharapova has the set back on serve at 3-3.

Break point for Sharapova now, however.

Sharapova is getting very loud now. Determination to break back is there, but Diyas is resisting well for now.

Diyas has approached the net twice and won one point there. She's choosing to drop back and use the drop shot instead and is finding it difficult to execute, having done so just once successfully despite a number of attempts in the match.

Diyas really had the chance to see another break point there but her reluctance to approach the net costs her as Sharapova eventually holds to restrict Diyas to just the single break in this second set.

Both players really fighting for this game. Third deuce now.

Sharapova defends a break point for the first time in the match. Good return by Diyas to earn it but good play by Sharapova to stop her taking it.

Wonderful hold by Diyas. Lovely drop shot and some good first serves help her extend her lead to 3-1.

Diyas is certainly taking her opportunities in this match. She's seen two break points in the match and won both. Now she is serving to consolidate her lead in the second set.

Double fault again by Sharapova - she challenges but the call stands. Diyas breaks and now leads 2-1 in the set.

Having taken advantage on deuce, Sharapova is now facing a break point instead. Chance for Diyas.

Sharapova's second service game of the set goes to deuce as Diyas shows great spirit and hits a lovely winner.

Diyas does exactly this. Another love service game, the first two of the match. 1-1.

Sharapova wins her first service game of the second set to love though and now Diyas must follow with similar conviction to keep herself in the match.

What has been crucial though is that when not getting it in, Sharapova has committed a number of double faults and won just 25 per cent of points on her second serve. Her average in the tournament is 44 per cent.

Interestingly, despite being very poor on her first serve so far, Sharapova actually got 74 per cent of her first serves in in the first set, which is better than her 61 per cent average thus far in the tournament.

Set two is underway now, as Sharapova serves looking to get off to a stronger start than the shaky one in set one.

Lovely recovery play sees Diyas save the first two break points, but Sharapova takes the third and breaks her opponent's resistance to take the first set 6-4 after 50 minutes.

The world number 34 looks nervous staying in the set though and gifts Sharapova three more set points.

Diyas breaks back! She's still in the set as she gets it back on serve with some fantastic determined play. It's 5-4 to Sharapova though as Diyas again serves to stay in the set.

Sharapova is now serving for the set at 5-3.

Having looked so comfortable at 40-15, Diyas produces some sloppy play and two double faults give Sharapova two break and set points. She saves both, however, to hold serve.

Sharapova holds again and now leads 5-2. Diyas prepares to serve to stay in the set.

Diyas approaches the net for the first time in the match, a tactic that was so important when she beat Pennetta in round one, as she won eight of her eight points at the net. Loses this one though. Good passing shot by Sharapova.

Diyas holds in the most convincing service game by either player thus far. 4-2 to Sharapova.

If Diyas wants to get back into the set, and the match, she needs to take advantage of Sharapova's errors on serve. So far, she's playing well but not when it matters.

Neither player looks comfortable on serve. Diyas unorthodox method has been somewhat sussed out by Sharapova, whilst the fourth seed has made a series of double faults and aborted seven ball tosses on serve.

Sharapova holds again despite some more shaky moments and a particularly spectacular backhand from Diyas. 4-1.

Vandeweghe is through on Court Number Three having won the second set against Safarova 7-4 on the tiebreak. She awaits the winner of this match in the quarter-finals.

Incredible rally sees Sharapova break on her second break point of Diyas' second service game. 3-1 to the Russian.

Meanwhile on Court Number Three, Safarova has broke back in set number two against Vandeweghe and the two are now in a tiebreak. The latter won the first set.

Another double fault helped give Diyas a chance in Sharapova's second service game, but an ace and two strong first serves give the Russian a 2-1 lead as the players take a short break.

Sharapova somehow misses a volley and Diyas serves the first ace of the match to hold serve. 1-1.

Fantastic play from Diyas to save the break point. Really kept up with Sharapova's movement to win the rally. Back to deuce.

Some naïve play from Diyas has allowed Sharapova a break point early on in this first set.

A poor backhand from Diyas gives Sharapova the advantage and she takes it to hold serve, albeit shakily.

Sharapova has averaged seven double faults per match at Wimbledon 2015, and has already committed two in her first service game. The game is at deuce now, good chance for Diyas.

Sharapova won the coin toss and has elected to serve. She will now get the match underway.

On Court Number Three, Vandeweghe has now taken the lead in set number two against Safarova. She is 4-3 up and now serving having also won the first set 7-6. The world number 47 looks only a few minute away from turning her attention to this Sharapova Diyas match which will decide her quarter-final opponent.

The players have now entered the court to a warm welcome and are about to begin to warming up.

Whilst we wait for the players to arrive on Court Number One, the match between Coco Vandeweghe and Lucie Safarova is already underway on Court Number Three and will decide who plays the winner of Sharapova and Diyas. Vandeweghe is ahead in that match having won the first set 7-1 on the tiebreak, whilst the second set remains on serve at 3-2 to Safarova, who was runner-up at the French Open this year.

Yet, that was on a hard court, and given both this and Diyas' current form, today's match is likely to be much closer and far more different.

These two have met just once before, earlier this year in the third round of the Australian OpenSharapova was victorious, winning 6-1 6-1 as she went on to pick up a silver medal in the tournament, losing in the final to none other than Serena Williams.

Sharapova has won 24 of her 31 points at the net thus far at Wimbledon 2015 too, Diyas' total being 16 from 20, so plenty of attacking play can be expected today, with delightful volleys sure to be on show - as well as some good passing shots given each player's solid game on the baseline and strong forehand.

Another aspect of the game that will be exciting to see come into play is both player's will to come out of their preferred position on the baseline to attack the ball at the net. This positivity especially helped Diyas in round one, as she won 100 per cent of points at the net whilst coolly dispatching Pennetta, the 24th seed, winning all eight of their exchanges when she approached the net.

Break points will be another type of opportunity Diyas will have to take as well. She has won 12 of these in her three matches so far, a very impressive total, but when you look at the amount she has actually seen, 27, then it tells a different story. Sharapova does not give break points away easily and defends them very well, so the 21-year-old needs to be composed and produce shots with real conviction if she is to break the Russian's serve.

However, Diyas can target Sharapova's second serve as an area of weakness to be exploited, with her winning only 44 per cent of points on it at Wimbledon 2015. Given that the fourth seed has got only 61 per cent of her first serves in as well, there are going to be plenty of chances for Diyas to return well and cause problems, though she'll have to improve on her own poor average of just 44 per cent of receiving points won if she wants to do this.

Despite Diyas registering 10 aces to her opponent's five so far in the tournament, Sharapova definitely has the more effective first serve of the two, winning an average of 78 per cent of points on it in her three matches so far.

Diyas will hope her tactically sound serve can help her hold games well, whilst Sharapova's sheer power on serve will make her even more difficult to break. Both players cancel each other out somewhat and thus it is sure to be an encounter in which desire and mental toughness will be key.

It is certainly going to be an interesting match to watch given that both like to play their tennis aggressively at the baseline, utilising their strong forehands well. However, Sharapova's defensive play has improved a lot recently, whilst her tendency to add a few drop shots in to make her baseline game all that more effective will trouble a player like Diyas, who is not the best mover on court.

With it being 11 years since she last won the event, these comments provoked one media representative to ask how she feels she has changed on the court since that victory. Sharapova responded by saying that she feels she has "grown many different areas of [her] game" as well as developing physically, as she thinks she "was still growing at the age when [she] was playing as a 16, 17-year-old." The latter has helped her "handle the longer rallies" too, she believes.

Speaking of her confidence in saying this, Sharapova explained that, "every time [she] enter[s] a tournament," she believes she has "to be ready mentally and physically to be the champion of the event." The Russian said that she has never been "the type of player" to go out without "that belief" and admitted that she'd find it "pretty tough" to enter Grand Slams and "just go out there and go through the motions."

The Russian has admitted this week that she believes she can win Wimbledon this year too, despite having not won it since 2004 at the age of 17. Yet, she will have to remain focused throughout this fourth round encounter first and prevent herself from becoming the third seed to be eliminated by Diyas this year.

Sharapova's post-match interview came before Diyas' victory over Petkovic was known, and thus she was unaware who her next opponent would be, but she stressed that she knows "quite a bit about both" anyway. She added that, regardless of who she would play, that she will go out determined to win and to "get to the quarter-finals, a place where [she] lost last year."

Speaking after her victory over Begu in the last round, Sharapova said she believes that, despite not playing in a tournament prior to Wimbledon, she has been "handling" her "different type[s] of opponent" "quite well" so far in SW19, an opinion backed up by her comfortably victories last week.

Diyas is having an amazing 2015 though, having achieved her highest ever career ranking in January this year of 31, and is one dubbed for big things in her career. She has already equalled her best runs at the Australia Open and at Wimbledon this year, as well as by bettering her best French Open finish.

Diyas has equalled her best ever run in SW19 by reaching the fourth round, having done the same last year. Yet, she faces a tough task in bettering that today as she comes up against a former Wimbledon champion in Sharapova.

As for Diyas, she is one of several surprise packages at Wimbledon this year. The 21-year-old, ranked 34th in the world, eliminated two seeds last week, beating Flavia Pennetta in three sets in round one and Andrea Petkovic in straight sets in round three, with victory over qualifier Aliaksandra Sasnovich coming in between these wins.

Sharapova, seeded fourth at this year's Championships, is yet to drop a set at Wimbledon 2015, having won all three of her matches thus far in straight sets. She disposed of British wildcard Johanna Konta in round one, Dutch qualifier Richel Hogenkamp in the second round and overcame 29th seed Irina-Camelia Begu in her last match.
