Following a few days rest after the Lions' barrage of transfer announcements last week, Byron Mullens is the latest to join the side in the capital.

NBA Quality

Mullens, who has previously played for the Oklahoma City Thunder and the LA Clippers, will provide more squad depth to  Vince Macaulay's side.

The 7'0" power forward was the 24th pick in the 2009 NBA season, a year that contained the likes of James Harden and Stephen Curry.

His experience will be vital for a Lions side that are making their debut in Europe this season.

Mullens has also played in Japan, Korea, and the NBA G-League where he was averaging 20 points a game.

Mullens, who's mother is British, was also in contention to play for Team GB at the 2012 London Olympics, but had to withdraw from the squad following a foot injury.

“Byron is the last piece of the jigsaw"

Lions boss Vince Macaulay was happy with his latest signing: “Byron is the last piece of the jigsaw, he is big, has vast experience, shoots the ball so so well from distance and has played over 60 games alongside Deandre Liggins in the G-League.

"We wanted very good players here in London but more than that we wanted good people.

The work has started now, we are all chomping at the bit to put our style of basketball on the floor in every single game we play this season.”

Mullens also spoke about the move with excitement: “I am truly thankful and blessed to have this opportunity to represent the London Lions.

"I really want to help a British team do well in Europe, I’m looking forward to giving my all to the organisation and to our fans."

Lions fans will be able to see Mullens in action for the first time on the 15th of September when the lions face Lithuanian side Neptunas Klaipeda in the Champions League.
