Leicester Riders have announced their seventh signing for the 2020/21 BBL Season, bringing in former NBA G-League player William Lee.

Coach Rob Paternostro brings in the hungry 25-year-old as he looks to add to his very full Riders trophy cabinet.

Lee will prove to be a very good addition to this new look Riders team, bringing back Jamell Anderson and bolstering the squad with fantastic new signings.

  •  New Challenge in the BBL

Lee comes into the new season off the back of playing in Germany with Pro-A side Nurnberg Falcons BC.

Before the move to Germany, Lee spent a year in the NBA G-League playing with the Iowa Wolves after graduating from the University of Alabama

Time at University proved to be successful for Lee, winning two Defensive Player of the Year awards and averaging an impressive 10.5 points, 2.2 blocks and 6.4 rebounds per game over his four years in Alabama.

The BBL will be a new step for improving Lee's game and building upon an already very impressive foundation.

  • Hungry for Success

William Lee joins Coach Paternostro as the Riders look to embark on another successful season and trying to stop the very impressive London Lions.

“First of all I would like to thank the Leicester Riders organisation for allowing me to be part of the upcoming season.”

“It’s been a long off-season and I’m ready to get back on the court and have fun again!”

“Words can not explain how excited I am for this opportunity. I’m looking forward to meeting my new teammates, the staff and all the Riders fans.”

With Lee excited to make the jump to Leicester, the Head Coach looks to his new stretch big man to help bring success to the Rider's Fans.

“We are looking forward to working with William . He is an exciting player who plays above the rim on both ends of the floor and is a guy our fans should enjoy watching play.”

“He has the ability to impact the game on the defensive end. He moves his feet well has good size and with a 7 foot 2 wing span can change shots.”

“We are excited about his shot blocking ability, he has always been an excellent shot blocker which we feel will be an important part of our defence.”

“He is a skilled big on the offensive end, he uses his versatility to be effective. He can shoot from distance, score around the rim and put it down on the floor to make plays .”
