The Oluyole Warriors will be seeking to record more points in order to ease their relegation worries, while the lads from Lagos will be playing for pride and little else when they cross paths with 3SC today.

The league campaign of both sides has been dismal, however, comparatively the Ibadan outfit has fared better than their Lagos counterpart.

Notably, Ikorodu have not been able to overcome the teething problems that accompany most sides in their debut league campaign in one of Africa's most competitive football league, the Nigerian Professional Football League (the NPFL).

As a result, the ‘Oga Boys’ are languishing in the basement of the league, having been the whipping side of the league thus far. The stats of Ikorodu United is a  source of great disaffection for Lagos fans as they have only been able to win just three matches so far and possess a paltry 18 points.

Their last win was against Warri Wolves two months ago accompanied by a series of losses and draws. What is more, they have one of the poorest defensive records so far, having conceded as much as 41 goals (same as 3SC).

Shooting Stars on their own part are desperate to avoid relegation and will be hoping to make it a third consecutive win following the rejuvenation that has been inserted into their campaign by seasoned tactician, Gbenga Ogunbote since his appointment.

The previous week's win over their Southwest neighbours Sunshine Stars will serve as a buoy for them, in addition to the fact that in their last three meetings with Lagos-based teams they have emerged victorious.

At this stage 3SC do recognise that every single point count and will be going out to grab a win. However, any recklessness on their part could play into the hands of the ‘Oga Boys’ who will savour any sort of victory they can get at this stage of the season.

In all, entertaining football awaits us at the Center of Excellence, even as fans of Ikorodu United and Shooting Stars alike will be longing for the thrill of the whistle.

Ikorodu United is on 19th spot with 18 points while Shooting Stars Sports Club have amassed 36 points and sit on the 14th position of the table.
