Nwakali signed a five-year contract for Premier League side Arsenal in the summer but was loaned out to Maastricht to gain quality experience. He is now set to play his first official game on Friday night against fellow second tier side Jong Ajax in the Eerste Divisie.

Nwakali made the trip to the Netherlands last Saturday and immediately resumed training, and later played in the first half of the youth team’s 0-2 defeat to Jong FC Eindhoven in a scrimmage held on Monday.

Jong Ajax and MVV have played six games up to date and have been prolific in terms of scoring with an average of 2.3 goals per game for both sides and it is expected that Nwakali will fit perfectly well into the side.

MVV are fifth on the log table after winning just three games out of six, they’ve drawn two matches as well as losing one in the 20 club format league.
