The Aviva Premiership fixtures for the 2015/16 have been announced this morning at BT Tower as the countdown to the new season begins.

Fans will have to wait longer than usual to see their club sides in action, with the season kicking off a month later than usual, due to the Rugby World Cup.

The season will kick off in mid-October once the World Cup group stages have come to an end, and to compensate for the late start, there will be no LV=Cup in the new season.

New boys Worcester start at home to Saints

Worcester Warriors are to be amongst the six sides to play on the opening evening of the new season, on Friday 16th October.

The newly-promoted Warriors host the Northampton Saints, whilst elsewhere that evening, Harlequins welcome Wasps to the Twickenham Stoop, with Gloucester making the long trip up to Newcastle to begin their campaign against the Falcons.

Champions Sarries to begin their season against Sharks

Saracens are to begin the defence their Premiership trophy at home to the Sale Sharks on Saturday 17th October.

Runners-up from last season Bath, will host west country rivals Exeter on the same Saturday to open their season, whilst London Irish start their campaign at home to Leicester on the Sunday.

Twickenham and Wembley continue to host regular season games

Again, due to clashes with the World Cup, the traditional Twickenham 'London' double-header has been moved back and will not open the season.

On Saturday November 28th, Saracens will play Worcester and London Irish will play Wasps in back-to-back matches at the home of English rugby.

Saracens will also take in their annual trip to Wembley, when they once again host Harlequins on Saturday 16 April. Last year's fixture at the same venue saw the champions run out 42-14 winners in front of a world record club rugby attendance of 84,068.

The Aviva Premiership final for the 2015/16 season will take place on Saturday 21st May at Twickenham.
