Goodbye
Thank you all for staying with me and following along. It was a great performance by Manly who cruise to victory against the Bulldogs. I hope you all have a great day!
Thats a wrap!
And that just about wraps up the third round of the NRL.
It’s safe to say it’s return has been a huge success and we look forward to round four next weekend!
What’s next for both sides?
Manly travel to Parramatta to take on the table topping Eels next Saturday whilst the Bulldogs will look to get on the board against fellow struggler St George Illawarra.
The Bulldogs torrid start to the season continues as they are comprehensively beaten here at the Central Coast Stadium.
Tom Trbojevic was at the heart of an impressive Manly performance, picking up three tries and two assists as Manly take their record to 2-1.
Full Time
Manly Sea Eagles 32-6 Canterbury Bulldogs
79 | Sin bin
Manly’s Danny Levi is sent to the bin for a late challenge.
75’ | TRY Manly!
And normal service is resumed.
Moses Suli spots a gap down the right hand side before being brought down just shy of the line. Reuben Garrick plays the ball quickly and darts for the line himself to grab his second of the night.
His kicking remains an issue though! He misses yet another conversion to keep the score at 32-6.
70’ | TRY Canterbury!
The Bulldogs do get on the board!
Lachlan Lewis sticks a grubber kick in behind and Jake Averillo gets on the end of it to grab his first ever NRL try!
There’s no mistake with the extras.
69’
Dylan Walker has had a very impressive night so far and he adds to that by intercepting whilst the Bulldogs are on the attack.
His night looks to be over though as he goes down with what looks to be nothing more than bad cramp!
63’ | TRY Manly!
He wasn’t involved with the last one but Tommy Turbo is back amongst it now! The full-back collects Cherry-Evans pass on halfway and advances to the 20 before finding Brad Parker for his second of the night!
Garrick couldn’t miss that one! The score stretches to 28-0.
61’ | TRY Manly!
And that’s all she wrote! Danny Levi plays the ball on the Manly line and fires a pass to the onrushing Curtis Sironen who powers his way over the line!
Garrick yet again fails to add the extras. Just a 20% conversion rate for the usually dependable kicker...
60’
Manly applying the pressure on the Bulldogs line as they force back-to-back-to-back sets.
57’
Canterbury cough up possession on the 5th and Manly break before being brought down on the halfway line.
The story of the Dogs night so far...
56’
Canterbury get a penalty and then a repeat set in front of the Manly sticks.
They need to score here you feel...
55’
It’s all Manly at the minute as the possession stats pop up to show the hosts have had 75% of the possession so far in this second period.
The Bulldogs need to get going!
49’
The Bulldogs are hanging on by the skin of their teeth here as they hold up Garrick to prevent another Manly try.
They need the next try, and fast, if they are to get back into this contest!
47’
Manly are in full flow now! Taufua breaks down the short side before delivering an inch-perfect grubber kick towards who else than Tom Trbojevic.
It looks like a try every day of the week but Jeremy Marshall-King had other ideas, putting enough pressure on Trbojevic to force the ball dead.
46’ | Missed conversion
He looks a little rusty does Garrick, he drags this conversion wide of the upright to take his tally for the night to 1/4.
45’ | TRY Manly!
Manly pick up where they left off and its Tommy Turbo at the heart of it yet again!
He fires a long ball across the Manly line to Jorge Taufua who steps inside and powers over in the corner.
A tricky conversion coming up for Garrick...
43’
Manly have come out very strongly in this second half and it’s Tom Trbojevic at the heart of the action once again, trapping the Bulldogs in their in goal to force a repeat set!
Kick-off!
We’re back underway here in Manly!
Tom Trbojevic showing his class!
The Manly full-back is one of the competitions most exciting talents and he’s certainly showing that so far tonight!
He has been involved in all three tries for his side tonight, scoring the first two and assisting the third!
It’s been a to-and-fro first half but it’s Manly who take a comfortable lead into the sheds.
The Bulldogs will be disappointed not to be on the scoreboard as of yet, having seen plenty of possession in the Manly 20.
They will need to find their spark quickly in the second-half if they are to get back into this one!
Half-Time
Manly Sea Eagles 14-0 Canterbury Bulldogs
35’ | TRY Manly!
Tom Trbojevic turns creator as his delayed pass finds the onrushing Brad Parker who makes no mistake with the finish, crashing over to extend Manly's lead. Garrick finds the target for the first time tonight to add the extras.
32’
The Bulldogs are really struggling to get it going in attack so far tonight.
Once again Britt coughs up possession in the Manly 20 as the clock ticks down towards half-time.
30’
Incredible play from Dean Britt who strips the ball from Taniela Paseka to give the Bulldogs a decent look in front of the Manly line!
28’
Incredible play from Dallin Watene-Zelezniak as he manages to prevent the 40/20 attempt from Manly, keeping his feet in play by the barest of margins!
You feel that Canterbury need to get the next score in this one!
27’ | Missed conversion
I spoke of Garrick’s success from the tee prior to the game and it looks like I may have cursed the Manly kicker as he misses yet another straightforward conversion.
26' | TRY Manly!
It’s a Trbojevic special as Jake draws his man before feeding his brother Tom who bursts through the line for his second of the night.
There’s a brief check with the TMO for offside but nothing going and Manly extend their lead.
20’
Opportunities aplenty in the last few minutes but neither side able to turn field position into points!
Manly are in possession on the Canterbury 40 as we speak.
15’
The visitors are struggling when they get in into their opponents 20 as they put the ball down and the chance goes begging.
But then Manly knock-on themselves and follow that up by conceding a penalty.
Another good chance for Canterbury here...
14’
A couple of errors from the Sea Eagles hands the Bulldogs some good field position.
Can they get on the scoreboard for the first time tonight?
12' | Interchange
Canterbury are forced into a change here as Adam Elliott goes off for a head injury assessment after clashing with the knees of Addin Fonua-Blake.
Sausao Sue replaces him.
9’
The set restart comes into play for the first time tonight as Manly enter the Canterbury 20.
Could we see the hosts extend the lead here?
6’
The Bulldogs are handed a chance to get on the board themselves however Jack Cogger fires a pass over the head of Nick Meaney and into touch.
4’ | TRY Manly!
TRY! It takes little time for Manly to get on the board as they open the scoring through Tom Trbojevic!
Reuben Garrick hits the post with what looked like a relatively straightforward conversion.
Kick-off!
Manly kick off to get us underway here.
Canterbury will be running from left to right in this first half.
Five minutes to kick-off!
There is little time for turnaround here as kick off is little over five minutes away!
Stay tuned for all the action!
Thriller in NSW!
This will be the competitions second match of the day and, if it’s anything like the earlier game, we’re in for a thriller!
The Penrith Panthers and Newcastle Knights have just played out a thrilling 14-14 draw! Not even ten minutes of golden point extra time could separate the sides!
