Apple Introduces New iPhone 6s, 6s Plus

Apple officially unveiled their newest iPhones earlier this week, the 4.7-inch iPhone 6s and 5.5-inch iPhone 6s Plus.

The new phones come in four colors- Silver, Gold, Space Grey, and the new Rose Gold.

The phones run on the new A9 chip, with an embedded M9 motion coprocessor. The A9 chip is 70% faster than the A8, and the GPU is 90% faster.

Added was 3D Touch, the newest generation of Force Touch. Force Touch was previously only available on the newest MacBook and Apple Watch. Force Touch senses two different levels of pressure to pull up different functions, and 3D Touch allows the new iPhones to sense three different levels of pressure.

This can be used for things like previewing content, quick shortcuts, and internal app functions. For example, if you deep press the Camera app icon, it brings up several actions, such as "take selfie." Deep press on the Phone app and bring up the option to call your favorite contacts without even having to open the app.

Another addition is the new second-gen Touch ID, which can process fingerprints up to 2x faster than its predecessor.

The iSight camera is now 12mp, a 50% increase from the previous generation. This sounds impressive, until compared to the leading competitors, the LG G4 and the Samsung Galaxy S6 (both 16mp). The camera also supports 4K video recording, which means videos are about to take up much more space on your phone.

Another small addition was always-on "Hey Siri." Simply raise your phone and say "Hey Siri" to activate the voice assistant. This was previously only possible when connected to power.

Do you always want the newest iPhone, but keep getting trapped in two-year contracts or two-year payment plans? Well, that is about to change. Apple now offers new financing plans that make it possible to upgrade annually to the newest GSM-unlocked model starting at $32/mo! If you'd prefer, Apple also offers 6-month, 18-month, and 24-month plans for users.

Pre-orders launched September 12th, but within 15 hours, all 6s Plus models were sold out. Many standard 6s models are sold out, as well.

The phone is set to be available in-store on September 25th, but with models selling quickly, it's impossible to tell when they will actually be available.
